Better than a Taurus fan?

Postby gotmud7 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:56 pm

I saw this today and thought I would share. Any thoughts? Using a Volvo fan instead of a Taurus fan. Maybe thinner b

The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

Cool deal all around. The relay set up alone makes it better, plus it unbolts. Not sure about the blow through deal? I wonder if the radiator would work in our cars?

17 3/4 X 16 3/8 (1 row) Hmmm...I don't think so =)

using the volvo fan has been my plan along with a similar shroud to what is shown below.

Ya, I definitely am going this route also. A couple of question's for you? I will not not have AC, so just run the high speed kicking in at 190 or low speed all the time and the high speed kicks on at say 190? Remember I live in Texas and summer temps get above 100 plus and stay there for months on end. Not unusual to have winter days in the 80's and even 90's. In fact 70+ today.

hey guys i made my own custom fit aluminum shroud for my 75 vega from a sheet of aluminum(.040 guage) only thing i havent done yet is cut out the 17 inch diameter hole. i really dont want to use a jig saw and get a bad looking cut around the entire circumference. any ideas how i can get a nice cutout with nice clean edges.im open to all suggestions. the sides are bent already, so i cant lay it down to cut like i could if it was still a flat piece of aluminum. thanks art

Hey Art the jig saw should do fine if you can find a fine enough blade (32 is technically too course but if you don't rush it will do the job but practice on some scrap 'till you find the magic spot) ideally a 50 pitch is what you want, good luck with that! Then you could clean it up with a sanding drum (applies to just about any method really).Or yuo could use a step dill bit to make a hole big enough to use an air nibbler (use oil on the tip with Aluminum). There are some air and electric shears that may work for your application, heres a few links http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsea ... r+nibblers http://www.harborfreight.com/14-gauge-s ... 68199.html http://www.harborfreight.com/pistol-gri ... 98580.html http://www.harborfreight.com/inline-air ... 98833.html Hope that gets 'r' done. Hi,
you would want to put down some tape to protect the finish until the cutting is done.

Monzaaddict,

How did you make that fan shroud? That's cool. Foam, duct tape, pour in fiberglass, done?
