Yard sell sbc heads

Postby BillPappy » Thu May 09, 2013 4:37 am

I picked up (No Named) aluminum chevy heads and air gap intake at a yard sell for a song and dance. Guy was saying he was bending push rods with the heads
After getting them home and kind of cleaning them. I started to investigating why he was bending the rods. Placing the Valve and laying a rocker arm on I notice some of rocker studs was 1/4in off center.

Gut feeling says to have them rewelded and drilled/tap in the right local. But, Easy fix for me at home would be a lock tight threaded aluminum stock. Milling off flat. redrilling/taping for studs,,
My thinking, It would be less stress on the heads this way.

Any thoughts on it?

Looks to me like they might have the non-OEM valve spacing like a Brodix Track 1X. If so, this means they take a special offset rocker arm to correct the geometry.

Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

There are no Marking, Numbers of any kind That I can find on the heads. I didn't even know they made heads with non-OEM valve spacing. Going to start research on it.
Wondering if they are some knock off copy of Brodix Track 1X

Thxs guys for the info.

On the larger port models the rocker studs are offset to clear the big ports.they make adjustable pushrod guide plates and off set rockers for those heads.
