Noob problems, engine help?!

I Just bought a '77 Astre with the 2.5. The intake and headers are on the drivers side so I know I don't have the crossflow engine. Would it be easier to find parts to fix this engine or just replace it, and if so, what is the easiest swap? Would a 1988 S10 2.5 be easy to replace it with or would it be a nightmare with a ton of fabricating? And also, where is the best place to find parts for these engines if I shouldn't swap it? The engine currently has low/ almost no compression in 3 cylinders. Help would be appreciated, I'm decent with machanical stuff but I'm only 17 and haven't torn in to any engines besides my 81 kz440.

Where you at? I'm in NY. I just tore down one of these engines today. It taking up space in the shop. Make an offer if you need a spare. Come and get it all.
