Bob Gumm's V8Monza Factory V8 Motor Mount Sag

Postby dadhad1 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 1:26 pm

Hey Guys,
I bought a new set of these mounts and bolted them onto some factory V8 Monza plates I scored in my 75 Vega.
I have a sm block in it with alum heads.
When I 1st installed it, I had about 1/4" clearance from the bottom of my modified oil pan to the top of my steering link.
Now that I've driven it a few hundred miles, I noticed that clearance getting real close to nothing.
I shimmed it up another 1/8" or so for now between the mounts & plates to re-raise it.

Question I have for those of you that have run these, should I expect this sink/sag to continue or is it typical for these to have a little 'break in' where settling stops after a bit?

Please advise if you have some input.

Thanks,
Mike Bunie

I have not used these but I would suspect that any rubber mount will have a slight amount of break-in period as you call it. Obviously they will only compress so much so I would expect it to settle down within a short period of time.
