Stock V8 pulley/belt arrangement?

Postby Fastmax32168 » Mon Dec 02, 2013 11:39 pm

What was the stock pulley/belt arrangement on my 77 305 car with no a/c? Was it a 2 groove crank and 2 groove water pump with a belt looping both those pulleys for the alternator and a belt looping both those pulleys for the Power steering as well? Or was it a 2 groove crank and 1 groove water pump with alternator looping the water pump and the power steering pulley running straight from the crank pulley to the power steering pulley and not using the water pump pulley? Or something else? I can find no clear pics of it.
Thanks

Roy that is a great Pic of Zeke's car/engine that Smiley posted unfortunately that is V8 With A/C. I am looking for those mounts BTW I have a couple of members checking on their stash But haven't heard anything in a while so a Plug for my cause while trying to help another (Multitasking at it's best) The non cool version is on the right side above the exhaust manifold. I have seen a few different versions I'll try and find a post with the one I remember from my old V8 2+2 There are a few on the site. Harry

Speedway has a bracket for a small block with any short water pump that puts the alternator in about the same place as the Monza mount.
$66 in chrome
$76 in stainless

Personally I think the alternator looks a lot better off to the passenger side than mounted high in the center. It just gives a more balanced look.

You are right Clyde but the A/C compressor lives there and my big sweaty @$$ needs COOLING! I have looked at that Speedway part and "Guesstimating" from the pic I think it will be too high for the hood to close. I was also worried about belt alignment with the stock accessories. If some one try's this and it works (or Not so much) please post so we know for sure. Thanx for being on the look out for all of us. Harry
