i dont have a manual but thats the same kit i got from Canadian Tire and used some 20+ years ago. I only ever used the gun for straight timing jobs and put the lead clip thing around the #1 cylinder spark plug and the other grounded i think .. then the light fires each time when #1 spark fires. rotate the distributor (loosen it slightly at the base first) to set the timing then tighten the distributor back down. the other gauges are self-explanatory.
