Doing a LS Swap... Which oil pan works without going to R&P?

Postby CableDroid » Sun Mar 09, 2014 3:40 pm

Hey guys, dropping a 5.3 into my Monza, keeping the TH350. Anyway I searched and read all the threads I could find.

Does the stock H3 V8 pan (aka GM Muscle Car pan) work for the H-Body? I am going to place the 5.3 in the factory V8 position so I can retain the stock torque arm mounting placementon the TH350.

I just want to make sure before buying anything. Any other stock/factory GM oil pan work better? I am NOT interested in converting to a rack and pinion setup or any other setup that is going to modify the stock type suspension/steering setup.

Thanks in advance guys!!

I used this pan and it cleared the center link. I had the trans in the stock location. I think the F-body pan is very close to this one. I converted to rack and pinion but went back to stock steering set up. It work really well. I sold the car though.

$400 is a tad steep if a factory GM pan will work.

Thx for the reply regardless.

Here are the dimensions of the other pans. You need the low front sump with the rear sump. Compare and see what works for you. Good luck.

This pan does not work. You need the 5.5" rear sump depth with the longest shallowest front part. Are you using injection or a carb?

Ended up going with the H3 pan. Put the oil drain bung up front for the turbo drain. Works great!!

The Camaro pan hits the crossmember so I used the gm swap pan. It's too low 8'' deep. If I did it over I would use the Camaro pan and cut and brace the crossmember.
