383 oil pan for h beam rods?

Postby 77nighthawk » Thu May 21, 2015 8:31 pm

Does anyone know of an oil pan that will fit h-body with a 383 stroker using h-beam rods. Moroso's Monza/vega pan states, does not work with 3.75 stroke, and Milodon's pan states, will work with a 3.75 stroke, but only with I-beam rods. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The information I have came from Jeg's website on 5/20/15.
If it don't scare me, I don't want it.

They make V8 Vega oil pans, even for one piece rear main blocks.
They list Vega pans with stock stroke, tell them what rods you have they should know if it will work. Or they can probably make what you want.

H-beam rods are sometimes a bit different shape than stock 400 rods; they might fit fine, depending upon brand and what rod bolts are in them. It's not even a 100% chance of stock rods hitting the pan; back in the 80's I put a stock 305 Monza pan on a 400 and had no interference. Just didn't know there was supposed to be a problem Lucky, I guess.

I guess I'll have to put it together, see what I got, and go from there. When I find out for sure what will work, I will post any results I find on here for future use.

My Smeding crate engine came with a Kevko Vega oil pan.
The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.
