2129 headers for Monza

Postby 77nighthawk » Sun Nov 15, 2015 11:40 pm

Does anyone have pics of the rear tubes of their 2129 headers going thru the inner fenders? The reason I'm asking is that I have to make my motor mounts, and need to know if they are centered in the holes for the brake lines or offset a bit? I know it is required to move the brake lines, which I plan to do. I'm not using a front motor plate for mounting, will make side mounts so as not to obstruct alternator and water pump mounting. Any help or assistance is greatly appreciated.

You enlarge the brake line holes for 2129's
Use the Alternator brackets and deep groove pulleys from a 77 Corvette,
the alternator bracket bolts on the front of the driver side head and clears the 2129 front mounts.
On cars with manual steering, no AC and later heads drilled for brackets, use the front mounts with the 2129's.
Use a swivel thermostat housing and Dual pass radiator with the inlet and outlets on the passenger side, this keeps the upper hose away from the alternator.

Does the front mounts position the engine in the same place as the factory mounts do?

it is pretty close. I used the front mounts with the factory transmission cross member and it was a little tight getting the engine brackets behind the frame brackets.

I widened the slot in the frame brackets to offset the engine to the passenger side like the factory mounts do.

Probably not what you want to hear but, I would go with the 2135 headers and use factory plates with bob gumm or powerbyace replacement mounts.

The 2135's aren't an option with the heads I'm using, but thanks for the offer. I'm fabricating my own side motor mounts and frame plates, just want to make sure everything winds up in the right place. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Brad
