Vega rear main oil seal kit

I am rebuilding a stock 140 Vega and am unable to find a rear main seal kit. I have been told a seal from a Chevy 6 cylinder 250 can be used. Does anyone know about this and if so what year? Help please. Thanks. Tom

I thought ebay would have one, but just checked and nothing. I know that almost all 140 gaskets are getting hard to find.

If you can't find one, let me know. I have a full gasket kit that I used most of the gaskets from, but still have the rear seal.

Tom,

Yes, you can use the 250 six cylinder seal, just trim off the "wings" from the one half. If you have a standard Vega rope seal kit, you'll have the main cap side seals. Otherwise, I've had success filling the cavities with RTV, just use enough with enough pressure so you see it ooze out the sides and bottom slightly.
