87+ SBC Thrust plate measurment

Postby 77 Spyder » Tue Aug 01, 2006 3:02 pm

Does anyone have a 1987 or newer V8 block that you could
measure the thickness of the camshaft thrust plate?

I am in the process of Setting up a Gen1 block with a LT4 Hotcam.
I am going to use a thrust bearing setup were the plate should be,
& a button on the other side. I just wanted to get a reference to start with, & I don't have one in the shop.

Thanks, Carl

Thanks Roy!

My cam has a .235" relief, & the cam sprocket has .105" That would leave me with a .130"
area of clearance.

So .008" must be the factory amount of free play.

Thank you for the help, Carl
