Saw somebody had posted a pic a while back with a fan under the hood blowing hot air out into wheel well about where the battery sits. Does that work well? I should have ducted my hood before I painted cuz it seems to got awful hot under there and I'd be interested in chasing that idea.

Thanks,
Roger

one of our guys did a very detailed experiment with all kinds of ways to get hot air out of engine compartment. i will see if i can find the posts. maybe the guy who did the study will chime in. im in the same boat as you. if you get info please post it art in NY

Are you concerned just about under hood temps or are you overheating as well? Clyde on this forum has a good thread on beating overheating issues in the General Discussion area under "Cooling Thoughts".

If you are concerned about underhood heat I would consider some type of hood louver. There are a lot of louvers used on other cars that could be adapted to a stock hood. Since heat rises that would be the most logical solution. Also, don't underestimate the use of a air dam under the front of the car. This will create a low pressure area which will help allow air to flow from the engine compartment.

I'm not sold on hood vents so much as I think the heat they bleed off will go into the interior floor vents through the slots at the base of the windshield. Wouldn't that heat get caught up in the high pressure area at the base of the windshield? That's why they put the vents there .....for your intrior air.

Agreed! Front "Air-Dam" and even side skirts, will help pull air through the "Engine Bay". Wheel well area's can actually be a higher pressure area, Cars that are paying attention to "Aero" pull the leadin edge of the wheel house outwards and the trailing edge in as the air will sweep back in from the tire and brake/wheel and this then creates a wind dam at the trailing edge. If I remember correctly all that is needed at 200 MPH is about 1.5". Harry
