Actually no I do not. Is it pretty informative? I've been looking to pick one up sometime before I start buying parts.

Looks like Gilbert is about 35 miles from Coolidge. I have family there.

I wonder if my cousin will drop the book off for you next time he's in the Phoenix area..

Wow, that'd be cool Colin! So you just don't have a need for it anymore?

Sure I'd meet your cousin somewhere, or if you would like me to send you shipping I could do that too. Whatever you would like! :D

Nah, I don't need it..
I was going to do an S-10 swap but decided to get into IROCs.. I still own IROC-Z.org, unless it's expired now..

PM me your info. I don't think shipping will be much, anyway... $2-$3 I'll just fire it off to you.
Later,
Colin

I understand you very much! Funny, because I was the same way. Either the S10's, or 3rd gen IROC/Z28's. The S10 won... for the moment at least. My dad still has an IROC though. It's a triple black 89 convertible. Pretty cool cars, and I think they still look great.

Oh, and pm sent! :D

Nice, man.. I love IROCs.. they're slow, but they look and sound good.

I have a G92 '87 with T-Tops and a yellow '85 with T-Tops. Both need some work.. the yellow one is very rare.. well, they both are.

I wish I could affort a vert right now. That'd be so nice to drive in this heat.

radiator/h-body

Postby mldeolde » Mon Jul 10, 2006 9:11 pm

i bought a Be Cool radiato for my IMSA on e-bay. it was listed as for 84-89 Corvette application - 700 hp. demensions listed as 17x27 ACTUALLY WAS 17X28 1/4. HAD TO NOTCH FRAME RAILS but it worked just fine for my application and the vendor even got Be Cool to send me a free billet cap for my trouble . about a $40.00 freebe. radiator cost me $250.00 and about $35.00 for shipping. it was a return to the factory for some bent fins. for the life of me i couldn't find enough damage to warrent return for anything less than a concourse vehicle :D i don't know if the radiator support demensions are different for the vega h-body variants but a little grindingand wella a 700 hp aluminum radiator for less than $300.00 PS: height fit just fine but without rubber supports was even ableto use factory top support but will need modifacations as the vette radiator has two large rectangular blocks that come out on top .

As stated before the Griffin GRI-1-25241-X is wider and somewhat shorter which prevents the unit from sitting low enough. The culprit is the driver side tank which in the stock unit is cut away to clear the frame rail. Instead of notching the frame, I cut a 1/2" X4" away from the lower left tank, welded in a flat piece of aluminum and ended up with a perfect drop in Aluminum rad! Because I am running a power steering box on my everyday street car, I modified the inlet port 90 deg and used a Mustang 5.0 upper radiator to complete the install. I used solid rubber blocks in the stock locations underneath to bring it up to mate the stock upper radiator shroud assembly perfectly. The combination has proved to be an excellent solution at $185 for the rad, $10 for the hose and time with the welder.

Vega radiator

Postby vega_man_larry » Thu Jul 13, 2006 4:02 pm

The Vega can accept a 13 inch tall radiator without any mods. I believe it's somewhere around 27 inches wide. I wouldn't recommend notching the K Frame to get a taller radiator to fit because it would compromise the strength of the front end. The K Frame keeps the unibody from spreading. unibody spread is not as bad if you are running Hurst / Transdapt style mounts, but can become a real issue if you are running Gumm, Don Hardy or Doug Thorley style mounts (mounts that use the sTock Vega attach points). The suggestion to notch the LH side radiator tank is a very good suggestion, especially if you want to run power steering. I run a manual steering box and a LH side alternator (Corvette set up), so everything fits ok. I also use an intank auto trans cooler. My radiator bolts to the HD mounting points and works with the d to get a bigger fan. Bob Gumm sells my design but it is a little spendy. If you go that route get the thicker core. Mine will work fine in 80 degree heat. Hotter than that and you need to be careful of stopped traffic. i suspect the fan is not working as effeciently as it should be. good luck in your radiator search. these are the Achilles heel of the V8 Vega.
