Welcome to my thread!!

(Cool Idea Colin/Dennis!)

In this thread you'll be able to see all the latest happenings and projects in "marco's monza world"

Its a 'world' because the thread will encompass the happenings in my 'world' of h bods which is up to about 5 hbods.
Also, any interesting tidbits I encounter, or pieces of memorabilia I dig out to share.

See the progress of my rides:

Red '78 Spyder....
Long term road test! 28 years and counting.
See its progress as I complete small projects to keep this thing looking mint all around.

Vote on different rims, modifications for it.....its going to be fun.

Black 79'
Do I keep it and Transform it into a v8 MIRAGE copy?
Watch as I paint it and install the kit.
This ride has many, many projects planned out for it.
should be interesting reading for while.
Unless I bail out and sell it!
Its always a continuing saga.

Then lastly there's the Formula sunbird....

Its supposed to get this starfire GT powertrain transplant

its going from 4cyl 4speed( originaly5speed) to Oddfire V6 5speed.

also manual steering.

Follow along with its progress step by step

Will it ever get done?

Stay tuned and find out!...

1st trip to storage is today.....will have pics of cabinet set up.

Then I must get to work on the 2007 calendar!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's what I started today with..

I moved the car out, here she sits Idling after starting up right away.

Here's the completed cabinets after assembly and major shuffling of parts and general mess..

I love it!!! its the best thing my garage has ever seen.

Now I have a flat stable workspace, with tools closeby.

Projects are going to improve 10fold. I'm also going to use it as an 'ebay station'

I just need pegboard hooks to get everything hung up good.

Ty, search google, there should be lots of h body engine compts out there, including mine.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Project Realities.

Red spyder wishlist with buget

After weighing many options, here's what I want for the red spyder...

Quadrajet carb, new, tweaked for a 305.
$350 to my door.
Custom cold air intake setup with k/n filter
$150
New Ignition system...DUI, with new plugs & wires
$250
paint/ bodywork ext/int & supplies
$400-incl rear spoiler repaint/decal.
Electric fan setup
$200
Aluminum rad.
$350
Window tint/misc, dress up
$150
Possible dual exhaust setup
$300

total to spend $2150

I dont want the projects to take longer than 2 years so that boild down to about $100 a month if I start saving now.

So this is pretty good BUT.

where does it leave the black '79 spyder?
the monza I want with aluminum heads, 5 lug suspension,5speed tranny and mirage body kit....
the monza with an easy $5000 buget....
8 years away???

yikes.

The Formula is looking more realistic, although, it will still need a buget of about $1,000 to be acceptable.

Will the Black '79 and 78 Formula be asked to leave the island?

Stay tuned....

We have the garage here for it and I found it a bit missing in your profile here, hence why I said "for the record".

Also your combo is similar to mine and I was just being interested (I even had a thread about hood clearance a long while back but you prolly never saw it.)

That hood clearance really worked for you, I have been so worried about my performer EPS I have bought a drop-base summit 14" airfilter.

looks like you could've ran a Performer RPM manifold.

I have a request, hope no one feels wronged....

Would it be selfish of me to ask that any basic chats be done the Genral chat forum, or wherever else its relevant?

I could be wrong. I have the concept that the threads in this Forum- project journals
are logs for the progress of the rides of thread creator.

Feedback and comments would be highly welcome, but posting and relies about other subjects not brought on by the author of the thread would be sort of rude.
Thats just my idea.

A couple of posts above come close, but hey, I'm a fun guy too, and like to be nice so I'll welcome the above posts and venture into some advice, since I currently the newer performer EPS manifold Dj mentioned.

I think you'll like it on your 350.
I run it on a 305 and seems to do the same thing that my other performer manifolds have done...

I need to up the exhaust and gearing(stock) if I want to utilize this manifold and my carb, a holley 600dp.

So right now Im a little down on power as the top end isnt matched correctly to the rest of the car.

The engine compartment gets alot cleaner without the egr and other stuff, i think you'll find your new set-up easy to get used too.

Inventory time.

Things are kind of slow with the holidays.

I have a cabinet to bring to storage so I'll be out there, but probably only for a minute, then on to getting ready to see relatives and feast.

I also have to get to work on the '07 hbody calendar...

and I better get cracking at it, meaning spending the weekend on the computer not at storage.

Inventory should be as boring as it sounds, but it will be enlightening knowing exactly how many sun visors, ash trays, and battery hold downs I really own.
Not to mention all the forgotten items.

I have a nifty little trial version inventory software program, I customized to categorize my items.
It looks to be worth the $40 asking price, after the trial period is over.

Cant wait to be done with all of it.

from collector to enthusiast...my collection shrinking...

Postby marco_1978_spyder » Fri Dec 15, 2006 10:43 pm

Nothings set in stone yet but preliminary plans are that a buyer is coming up from across Ny in early January for the Black Spyder.

The good side is:
I'll be able to devote more time and effort to the red spyder which needs and deserves it.

There will be much more room at storage.

someone will be enjoying the car, and giving it the resto it needs, instead of it rotting away in storage.

The Bad side is......
I wont have my cool sinister black spyder anymore.

I had a TON of good times in that damn car. I think I've actually driven that one more than the red spyder.

The cool thing was....the car was an open canvas for customization , due to its condition.
The red spyder on the otherhand is limited by an originality that you just dont find everyday.

Sure the cloth seats look like Aunt Beverly chose the patterns and colors, but its still the rarer uplevel interior option in like new condition.....so it cant be customized, by my own personal 'restification rules'.

The black spyder could have some molson beer caps on the radio knobs and something was cool about it.

Big Chrome Shifter ball? sure, why not.

I'll miss that,

I'll miss driving around with the vist vent glass removed and a big open hole up above.

I might not actually sell the thing after typing that last sentence, lol.

That car has had 2 305's in it. and one lo po 350 while I had it.

1st it was Automatic, then a 4speed.

It also started with a 2.93 open diff, which I changed to a posi carrier.
It later had a 3.42 posi in it.

I'll surely miss the car, but I know I need to thin down.

I still have the Formula sunbird which needs an engine transplant (Olds starfire GT drivetrain)
And heavy cosmetic restoration.....That project may eventually get sold because I cant really think of what I'm even doing with the car. Or if that one has any time or buget available.

I just want it I guess....but thats regular for us car guys...so no need to justify it any further, lol.

Ready to tackle projects finally!!

Finally after todays clean up I can move around storage without climbing over things or kicking junk out of the way.

I finally have parts neatly in boxes. stacked and shelved, and like items together so when its time to find something I know right where it is.

Tools are organized and my work shelf is clear and ready for a project...

Image

It might not appear that clean, but you should have seen the disaster area it was before.

I took some pics of the red car too...I'll post those below
