I am planning to do the rear one as well but it isn't near bright enough to see in the daylight. Will be just accent lighting hooked to the marker circuit.

I was sort of kidding, but I'm sure it will look cool just on the tail light circuit. Obviously, that single LED wouldn't really be bright enough for CHMSL(that's how it's referred to in GM wiring diagrams).

I'll take a guess, Center High Mounted Stop Lamp

The LED chip is rated for 260 mA but at that current level, the plastic emblem would get damaged - way too hot. I experimented with different values for R1 and ended up with 68 ohms. Best compromise between luminosity and heat. R1 needs to be a 5 watt ceramic power resistor. All testing was done at 14.2 volts with peaks of 15v as this is where most GM alternators have there control voltage set to.

I ground a trough for the wires and epoxied them down. Bits of heat shrink tubing were used, a 2 pin molex connector and everything was soldered. Got to sand the epoxy flat on the emblem backside yet, drill a hole in the fascia, emblem mount area, for the connector to pass thru and wire in the connector to the marker circuit.

Thanks Phil & Dave xD Hope to get back at it shortly!

Stumbled on this today while looking for something else. It was quite the trip hauling it back to Ontario from Greenville SC in 2006!

ebay wrote:79 Chevrolet Monza

This Monza has a 305 with a 4 speed transmission, miles are 97,500 car has factory air although not hooked up. Front fenders have some dents but another set will go with car. These cars are getting very scarce. Most people have no idea what it is. The factory radio still works, has the factory GT wheels that are included but will need tires. I bought this car because it is no butchered like a lot of the rest. Car will need a muffler and some carb tuning, it runs rich. Car does look better in photos, not trying to down-play the car it is a nice car but some people expect to buy a 1979 car that looks as good as a 2005. Will be happy to show you the car. I can provide instructions to convert to 5 lug wheels very inexpensive. Car weights in at 2850, so install a 350 with some hi-po parts and it will be really fast!
For Sale on Ebay right now!

call Mike today 864-704-xxxx to make offer. Reserve is set at $2799.00 if you have a fair offer over that please call me and make it. I have already had a few but not enough to end the auction. Thanks for looking.

Lookin Great Zeke. Do I see Spektrum radio box on the back shelf? I fly a Sonic Modell 1400mm Pitts Python bi-plane with AS3X and GPS telemetry- DX6, but, thats for a different thread.
Good luck with the Monza.
