ok, so I whipped up the tranny crossmember and installed it today, that's off the list. I started with some small rectangle mild steel tubing, drilled and tapped the top of it so the front seat track bolts will install thru floor into top of it. I then drilled (3) 1/2" holes in the floor and plug welded the floor to the tubing top, then welded it to the rocker panel pinch seams underneath on each end.

heres the removeable center section, used box tubing with tube sleeves for bolts to go thru. Welded the nuts so I don't have to hold a wrench on them to remove. Made the round notchs on the Bridgeport, made quick work of that job!

got everything painted and ready for final install in the rear, did the entire underside of car in truck bedliner, comes out very nice. Then moved to the 4 link and drilled out the mounts on car chassis and rear axle to accept new grade 8, 1/2 " bolts and locking nuts. Changed the rear coil over springs to 150 pound units as the 100lb ones were a bit past halfway on the adjusters so they were a bit too light. I also have a set of 175lb if these prove to be too soft after full tank of fuel is added on. Rearend got final painted and just needs to have the backlash set from changing out the center section to a newer unit (28 spline) from a trans am and new girdle cover installed. I will snap a couple pics of everything installed, nice to be done with it and move on to finish drivetrain to get this going.

I finished up the rear end and also used floor insulation(like dynamat) up to the e- brake as the rear of car is now finished, ready for cleaning and carpet installed, back seat returned to car.
So, today I worked on perm. mounting the intercoolers and made a inner fender brace to support fender and to double as a mount for the intercooler piping. Used small angle iron and welded nuts to bottom side for fender bolts, had to bend it slight radius to it to match the fender, was simple to do. Also made a sheetmetal air foil to aim the air coming in from turn signal hole in lower valance to intercooler. Notched the plastic fender mud guard for intercooler pipe to pass thru.

Is the Vega sitting at ride height? I couldn't help but notice the drywall square sitting against it.
What is the story on the Chevy II in the background?
Gotta love pictures.

yes, vega is at ride height.....thats the roof limbo stick! even I can wax the roof easily :D ...lol

the 66 chevy II in the background is my distraction from getting the green car done, along with, putting a tube chassis in my 73 vega wagon :bang: . I have 3 goin at once, which is the reason its taking forever. chevy II has a 67 front sheetmetal on it, 871 blown small block(414 cu in) in it, tube frame front end with mustang 2 suspension, 17 inch front and 18 inch rear wheels, mini tubbed in rear. Wife is gonna drive that one since its a turbo 400 automatic.
