Here are a couple pictures of the quick repair that I had to make the other day to take care of the mistake that I made while assembling the bottom end of my engine. It really turned out to be rather simple and not too time consuming. Took out the crossmember & brace, and dropped the drag link and slid it out of the way. It was really pretty straight forward and easy to do with plenty of room to work underneath the car.

Dude...thats a pretty nice car and alot of work to ruin it all with that fram filter....do yourself a favor and spin on a napa gold, wix, purolator pure1, mobil1 or K&N on there...please!...heck...even a $5.99 Bosch filter from autozone is leaps and bounds a better filter.
Lookin good otherwise....whens the tunnel ram goin on? I got mine runnin.

God bless

Shred,

You know, I was just waiting for someone to notice the oil filter and give me crap about it. To tell you the truth, I really wasn't planning on running that filter, it was just something that I have had in my garage in case of a "dire" emergency ever occured and I needed one. I basically just put it on there to keep the engine sealed up. I will put a GM filter on it before I fire it up, that is what I run on all my GM based vehicles.

As for the tunnel ram, well as you can see I am not that far yet. I have been busy "ironing out" some of the smaller problems and trying to get them taken care of. As you seen in my last post I took care of the oil pump drive rod and buttoned the bottom of the engine back up and replaced the cross member & brace. This past weekend I put the filter extension in/on the transmission and buttoned it all back up. I also took care of the little problem of my headers and steering shaft rubbing against one another. I bought a 3/8" think header flange used to fab up custom headers and used it as a spacer and sandwiched it between two sets of exhaust gaskets to move the headers out away from the cylinder head & steering shaft. I must say that it worked perfectly, I now have about 3/16" of an inch clearance between the two and now more issues. It turns easily and with no more problems.

Next I am going to be tackling the transmission cooler & cooling lines along with the fuel lines and tank. I first need to fab up a sump for the tank out of some 16 ga. black iron and get it welded on and work my way forward. There is still plenty of work to be done before she gets any fire put to her. Heck, I haven't even started the wiring yet, and that is another story in its own self.

Ofcourse as usual, I have posted some new pics for your viewing pleasure.

Hey All,

I have managed to get a fuel sump fabbed up for the gas tank, it's not perfect, but it will serve its purpose. Once I can get that all welded on and put back under the car, the sooner I'll be able to get the fuel lines run and hooked up. Getting to the point of where I am going to start needing some other body panels finished up so that I can get them back on the car. I am getting to where I need the front "clip" put back on so that I can look at getting the radiator and elec. fan put in. I am also starting to think that perhaps I need to get the rest of the body in color here soon as well. If I can do that, then I will be ready to get the glass set back into the car also.

Hey Folks,

Well, I went out and did a little "garage sale'n" this weekend and come across this one amazing sale. Most of everything was "gearhead" stuff. BBC, Sbc, Sbf things. From valve covers, timing chain covers, hilborn air cleaners to complete engines. A dream come true ! Most everything was selling very cheap, I mean we are actually talking "A Buck $" for almost everything.
Ofcourse, I myself came upon a little deal that I just couldn't refuse. A 78-85 350, 4-bolt main, Car/Truck engine, casting #14016379. The cylinder heads are casting #462624, 1.94 in./1.50 ex. with a 62cc. The heads are brand new and have never been run, they came off of a GM 350 crate motor. The block is bored .030 over with Speed-Pro #H345NP pistons. It also has "pink rods & arp rod bolts. There is/was no cam in the engine.
The "claim" is on this engine that the son of the people who were having the "garage sale" built this engine 5-6 years ago when he was in Tech School as a project for himself, but had no vehicle to install it in when the project was complete for school. The engine has sit in a climate controlled garage since, the engine was run on the dyno for about 1-2 hrs. for break-in and "grading" and has not been since.
Needless to say, the price was right and I could not refuse !!! (Yea, I Stole This One Too!)

nolt6,

I have two sets of wheels for this car that I am using,
Street Wheels & Tires,
All Four GM 15x7 with a 4.0" of B.Space.
Tires are 215/65-15 BFG Touring T/A's (24" tall)
Race Wheels & Tires,
Front: 15x4 Weld Dragelites with 1.75" of B.Space.
M/T E.T.'s 26.0x4.5-15 (These tend to rub a little on tight turns, I'm going to switch to a 22"-24" tire.)
Back: 15x8 Weld Draglites with a 3.5" of B.Space.
Hoosier 26.0x9.0-15 (These tires seem fit my car very well, and have had no problems.)

Okay, Have a question here,

Has anyone ever just mounted their -08 fuel bungs in the bottom of their fuel tank and not used a sump in the back to do so? Just curious, tossing around different ideas in my head!

Yes, I have. I used a fuel cell bulk head fitting almost directly under the sending unit. I haven't driven the car much, but what I have I have never had fuel delivery issues.
