Checked on it for you you ......no Turbo 350's listed in BC only 1 Turbo 200 listed in Abbotsford , BC........ no price. As for your prices including R +R , I know I paid $200 labor for an R +R for a used tranny in my 69 Cutlass in NY years ago. I also paid $129 on my 77 Bonneville here in AZ for a reseal which included R + R. Doug in AZ 8)

1975 Chevrolet Monza IMSA

Postby patrick1151 » Thu Nov 01, 2007 2:58 am

Nope it unfortunately came from the factory with a 4 cyl, 4 spd. I have the origional build sheet.

As for tranny rebuild, I though that was cheap considering the first quote I got was $1850.00. We are paying between 80-100 an hour for labor here these days.

And yes the $800.00 is installed. He is giving me a bit of a deal though as I told him if I am happy, he will get my Astre for the rebuild and my buddy wants to upgrade his Monza from a TH200 to a TH350 so he will get that job too.

Well the car is supposed to be finished this afternoon. Final bill for the tranny with a stage 2 shift kit in it is 1097.00 Ouch more than I was hoping. My buddy talked me into the stage 2. Hope its worth the extra money.

Still computer problems, cant get pictures yet.

Got my hands on a remanufactured Q-jet carb this weekend. Previous owner said it was used for a week after it was purchased and installed. Its an older one without the auto choke so I will have convert it. But it looks brand new and still has the metal tag on it.

Car is still at the tranny shop, looks like it will be done tomorrow but I will not be able to get it until Tuesday.

YEAH!!!!!! got the car out of the shop today. Tranny cost me $1300 in the end. The bracket on the tailhousing was cracked and when he couldnt find another one, he had it welded instead of calling me. Course I could have gotten a replacement.

I am not sure if he will be getting any more work from me. Took twice as long as it was supposed to and 300.00+ more than it was supposed too.

YEAH!!!!!!!!! the Bird lives, its now insured and temporarily my daily driver. WOW nice to have some get up and go under the hood. I am currently dreaming of a twin turbo 350 or even a just a single turbo 350.
The 262 is a little tired so I will probably just start by finding a good used 350. As my other projects are going to take all my money for the next while.
Now on to my Astre and trying to track down the Vega Cosworth that is rumored to be for sale somewhere close too me. Oh yeah and the owner of the 78 Monza S coupe that keeps trying to sell the car to me and I would love to find the money to but the C06 car off of Mitcher78
If I bought the S coupe, it would probably just get parted out as it will likely be beyond my means to restore it. And as it is such a rare car, I would hate to part it out. Come on people, someone must want a rare project. Not on CL anymore but still available.

I am going to make another attempt this weekend on fixing our computer issues and getting some pictures on line.

Nice Pic's !,

Your Sunbird Looks to be in as Great a Shape as mine did when I pulled her out of the weeds. Not very often that you can find an H-body with little cancer in it! Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more posts & pic's as you go along in your build.
