Is your car a factory v8 car? What do you mean by the rest of the running gear being out of a 1975? What is the 5th character on your VIN number?

I wouldn't be surprised if that is actually a 305. The guy that swapped it might have gotten the drivetrain parts from a '75 monza to go with his 305. I bet you've got a 305...

Nope its not a V8 origonal car and we checked the damper. Its got the smaller one so its the 262.

1979 Pontiac Sunbird Coupe

Well I havent posted here for a while but have been working hard on the car just to keep it running for my everyday car.

In the last month I have done the following.

Alternator $105.00
Rad $270
Water pump $60
Heater Core repair $30
Upper and lower rad hoses $80

Argh it just never ends. Hopefully it will run now for a while so I can concentrate on other things. Like the rear end swap with my posi rear end, control arm bushing, sway bar links and bushings. Coils and shocks and eventually another motor. Still trying to decide on that one but maybe a 350 done up will fit the bill here.

Next on the short term list though is installing the in tank fuel pump/sending unit from my V6 car and deleting the aftermarket fuel pump.

Added to the bills in the last 2 months.

New Coil and Module
New Master Cylinder

And of course the sending unit out of my parts Spyder is rotten beyond saving. Looking again for a good or repairable V6 or V8 sending unit. :x

Up over $600 in 2 months, thank goodness I do most of my own repairs, I couldnt afford a mechanic's hourly rate on top of the parts.
