Here are some pics of my 72 drag car getting my L92 based stroker motor put in. Everything is going ok but steering clearance and exhaust are a pain in the ass. I will take all of info on these 2 subject I can get.

Its a 416 L92 headed motor. 4.065 bore on a 4 inch stroke. Callies crank, Howards rods, and JE pistons. I hope she goes fast!

Oh yeah, I have some BBC Vega headers , never used I want to sell. Buy them!

Sweet, your Vega will be a beast at the track, any plans for n02, should be dangerously fast.

I could spray some. I don't plan on it now but give me a few runs to get used to it and I'll want to go faster in no time at all. lol
Car should weight 2600lb with me in it. Its gonna be a little monster. Juice should make it crazy

Hey anyone every see or use Doug's headers for an LS1? I just found this on summit. I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow.
Seems I may be able to buy something off the shelf that fits!

I am not aware of any custom fit headers that fit the Vega with your engine application, but you could probably modify some headers if you are up to it, or you could re rout the steering shaft to gain clearance also.
There are other members here with LS engines in there rides, I'm sure they will chime in with some good information.

Alot of mazda swaps on ls1.com have used the mustang shorty's, and cut off the flange
and rounded the pipes and used ls1 flange's to make them work.
those are some small engine bays also so it might work for Vega's too?

Well I talked to Summit for a while today and these headers are made to fit an LS1 Gen III/IV motor in a 71-72 Vega. I ordered them today and will see how they work.
I hope they fit good as we need something like this to make the swap easier!

Good find! I am going the ls1 route too. Didn't even think about trying to find headers because I didn't think anyone made them. This could save me a few hours, let us know how they fit.

That is going to a great deal if they work,, would they give a refund if they didn't fit? TC

Really??? I can't imagine they'd work, especially if they list that many applications. I'm guessing they just have list of all popular cars that came with, or might have a V8, and assume the LS1 headers will work. Doesn't make sense, since why 71-72, and not 73-up?

They should have a guarantee on whether they fit or not. Someone's gotta try! Or call Doug's up directly.

I did ask summit the same thing. He said look at the list, its a odd mix of small cars mostly. I brought up my concern and he did say it looks like I would be fine but I'm sure they would take them back if they don't fit. Only time will tell. Your right, won't hurt to call Doug's either.

By looking at the pictures they may fit. The passenger side is tight so it needs to hug the block. Let us know, sounds like an option.

Wow seems like alot of people are doing LS engines! good! some of you guys should consider going 6-speed I thought your engine was going in a later year vega? end up changing bodies?

I had a custom set of headers made at a local shop, i ended up paying out the wazoo... they turned out nice. make sure you let us know how those headers work! if they do, make sure i cant see it because there will end up hearing about a small shop in VT exploding bits and peices all the way across the canadian border......

Just wanted to know if you are running a mid-plate? Cool car also!! Would like more pics of the front end.I was thinking of cutting the front off also.
