A Pontiac Astre with a Ford V-6 and an Oldsmobile steering wheel.
Not a basket case - it's a hybrid. :)
What are you plans for this somewhat rare Pontiac?

That car looks solid. Excellent starting point. Nice GT dash and I love the steering wheel!

Looks great from the outside, maybe it will crank over and fire right up. Could be the owner parked it due to lack of floor.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is the front suspension missing? If so, there has to be a story about it.

If that Capri engine is the same one I had in my 74 mustang, it'll wind to 5500 or so, mine went to 6000 with no probs, stock, but if it has the same German trans, be nice to it, it didn't like being abused too much. I slammed 2nd a few too many times and it got hard to shift.

It sounded great with duals and turbo mufflers.

Haha thanks everyone, that is indeed a German Capri motor and i shouldn't have any problems with the transition because it was taking from a 5.0 (t5) so it should take a beating from a 17 year old. From what wiki told me the stock Capri motor should get about 150 hp but my motor(2.8) has been bored out a bit and someone dropped a radical cam in it along with an msd box and a 4 barrel holly carb so im guessing it should get around 200 hp but im hopping it has more like 230 hp( i can dream right?) . But for all i know this might be all speculation because this motor hasn't ever run so im going to have to break in the cam witch is the only thing i worried about as far as the motor goes.

The inside of my car with the exception of the dash is naked, I found some guy that is selling carpets and I have all the plastic trim laying around. Seats well im not so sure about them they are alright seats but the 2 front ones have been exposed to the New England weather for the last 8 years so im not sure just how badly i want to reuse them.

The front end Well i just finished that so check it out below...

some more pics of my project.
Now this one picture has quite a story behind it, as you can see the spring is being held in by only the floor jack ( i didn't put the castle nuts on because i was exited to take a picture for you guys...) well right as i took that picture that floor jack just gave up and the spring proceeded to rocket out and try to kill me so im pretty thankful that springs aren't known for there accuracy.

*note car still doesn't run and im going to take out the rear end and sand blast it then paint it also the rear tires are rubbing alittle bit so im going to find some sort of solution to that to.
