Good news! Finally had some time to do the wires, change the oil (drop the driver side headers) and fill it up with coolant.

Spend most of the day fiddling with that and then I eventually got to checking for fuel leaks by priming the system, I have one bad fitting but we decided to try and fire up the engine anyways.
After trying to start the engine it would turn over but I had issues with the needle/seat as well as the squirters. I'm pretty new to holley's so it took me a while but I re-adjusted the float level and unstuck the needles under the squirters and everything started pumping properly. FINALLY the car starts up, difficult to keep idling so we suspect there is something else not working well but we were able to hold/rpm and try to adjust the timing. However in the process of adjusting the timing and trying to hold the throttle we got a massive backfire, figuring it was just timing we tried another few times and finally got the same result... It was only after we stopped that I noticed the following:

Now I need to order new gaskets (going to buy more than one) pull the lid off and take apart the primary on both sides to check the power valves.
Today wasnt a total loss, at least I got to hear the car start up again, albeit for a short time.
