Hey guys,
I have had some of these pics for quite a while now. We started to focus on a few other projects before tackling all the bodywork at once. So we will some more pics of the taillight panel, but first here is an update on what we have been working on since the last post. I hope you enjoy! :D

im running the remote oil filter in the samer area you are using. how did you get both right angle fittings to end up in the positions where you have them, without one hitting the other during tightening. i was going to put one fitting up about 1 1/2 inches higher than the other so they would clear each other. you didnt have to do this. did you tighten them in at the same time, a little at a time, so they would, not hit each other?. i say all this becaUSE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO GUARANTEE THAT THEY BOTH WILL TIGHTEN UP SUFFICIENTLY AND be EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT TO POSITION THEM(PREFERABLY PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER. THANKS ART

Art this is Dave, Jason's dad. He trimmed the length of the barbed end where the hose connects, then took a big gnarly file and filed the corners of the fitting off at a 45 degree angle so one fitting would pass the other while tightening. Thanks for your interest in his project.

thanks dave you and your son sure did alot of nice work on that vega. we probably have the best bunch of fabricators in the whole hot rod industry, as we are orphans and no one makes goodies for us. keep up the good work. i will try my fittings and see where i get with tightening them. mine are a little different than yours, but i now have some sort of idea on what to do with them. thanks again art

Just read thru your thread, nice work guys! I'm curious as to why you are using the cogged drive setup.

Zeke, we decided to use the cog belt set up because it's different and looks pretty cool. I have the same set up on my 56 Chevy pickup. Dave.

Hey Art, If you go by a machine shop, for a couple of coffee's some night you will be able to get yourself an old pipe tap to match your filter bracket/adapter, and shorten the first 3/8" or so off (that will more than likely be the bad part of the tap they would have thrown out anyways, it will cut that aluminum piece like nothing, use kerosene for lube (WD-40 will work in a pinch). Now if you need to get another 1/2 turn just re-tap it a little, beware though a half turn will let the piece turn about 3/4 of a turn, so start out with a lot less than you need, it takes a lot of practice to nail that one the first shot, when I figure it out I'll let you know! (30 years in and I still don't get it every time and I would work on this a couple of times a week). if it is a straight tread like ORB etc. you are on your own. We don't use those in our field very often so I have less than nothing to offer. Harry

We are currently working on a few projects, but I though it would be fun to make this GIF to show you what we plan to use to support the rear inner fender well. We removed the original brace from both rear inner fender wells. Click on this link for a quick clip of what we plan to use instead -> http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/6-25-2014/bTVYHM.gif

Is this something you could duplicate easily?
Excellent idea for those needing that last bit of room to fit 265's in the back. :th:
