Engine placement is a combination of alot of different things. Jason made the motor mounts similar to the mounts that were on it originally, and also made the trans mount. The single most difficult thing was the fit of the headers. We moved the engine all over the place trying to get the Hooker 2129s to fit. The engine placement was finally determined by the best clearance of the headers. I can check the clearance between the HEI and firewall, and heads to firewall/heater box if you'd like. We still don't have a trans dipstick in it yet. It'll probably have to be modified too. Thanks for your interest in Jason's ride,good luck with yours, Dave.

Hey Dave, thanks for the response. Some headers came with mine, though I don't know the brand, so that may be the deciding factor for me as well. Nice work, I'm subbed in, and look forward to watching your progress. Love to see those pretty welds..... :th:

Hey Ironwill, I got some measurements for you. Passenger side valve cover flange to heater box 1/2". Driver side valve cover flange to brake line bracket that's on the firewall,1-3/4". HEI distributor to firewall 1-1/2". Hope these specs help you out. Dave.

I like the torque arm bracket how thick is the material? I went thick when i made mine and had to weld it all together out of flat plate.

The bracket is made out of 10 gauge mild steel. I'm lucky to know the guys at the fabrication shop at work. One of them bent the 10 gauge into a channel for me then my son and I took it from there. I thought 10 gauge would work because the stock torque arms are around that same thickness. We haven't installed this torque arm yet, the car still has the stock rear Vega mounts on a Monza axle.

Recent repairs done on the Vega. Preparing to fix a sump on the fuel tank, now that the rust near the tank is repaired, and then the new aluminum fuel line will take shape.

Front tires are p155/80r15, and rears are p265/50r15. Front wheels are 15x4 and rears are 15x8. Thanks for your interest Dave.

1" wide gilmer belt drive pulley set :D We are planning to use the flex fan to the left. We also plan on milling off a good portion of the crankshaft pulley to make clearance for the fan. The alternator pulley will be fastened to our denso alternator with a nut machined from a one inch bolt. We will upload more photos as we make more progress.

jason that round piece on the underside of the mount. is that some sort of strengthening gusset. nice work on all the parts you are modifying art

I am not sure I understand your question. Are we talking about the motor mounts?? If so, yes. We decided to use a tubular stiffener on both mounts. In my opinion they look better and they where easier to weld than the plate style stiffener.
