I got the firewall pad finished. It was fairly simple to make. After making the cardboard pattern of the inside firewall, I used 3M trim glue and attached 3/8" thick jute material to a piece of 1/8" rubber sheeting. All the holes where cut out using hole saws and a razor knife.

The CVOA sells a heater box kit that includes new foam and some gaskets. I bought one online, maybe ebay, a few years ago. Not very expensive. I used it on a 72 Vega with a 73 heater box. The 72 box was metal, the 73 I think was plastic.
The only Vega's that only had a little rust were the ones still on the assembly line.

Thanks.
Put the firewall pad in and all the holes lined up. I also duplicated the brake lines to match the original ones.

Rigid tight radius benders for most of it. Hand bent some of the larger radius stuff over a piece of 3" and 6" pipe.

Here is a link to the benders I have.

Started cleaning up my interior pieces before installing them.
Gibbs Brand can be used like WD-40, etc. But it can also be used as a conditioner on vinyl, plastic, leather and other materials. It made the dash bezel look new again.

You are really building a clean Vega, if only they gave them this much attention when they were first built!

I notice the tach hole is empty. I know you're doing a period theme...... probably something like an old Sun-Tune or something..... but Tim McCabe on here does an awesome job of mod-ing the 4-cylinder tach to read V8 .... and he calibrates it to read more accurate on the top end. The stock, matching font of the tach would look fantastic.
Tim has recalibrated 2 tachs for me with great results.

Finally had a chance to get back to view your progress. Awesome as ever. I have to admit I have been working on my coupe finally as well. Began bending up brake lines over the weekend and 'was' quite impressed with my work. Well until I sat down and checked your progress. I took the time to pattern my lines with hangers for templates used similar benders and all looked good. I'll be heading back to the garage to rip it all out now :bang: Thanks! Seriously mine is not intended to be a show piece just a clean dual purpose driver so I am content. Using your craftmanship as my motivation to strive for as near perfection as I can get. Keep it coming. By the way the BFH didn't do my camera justice I used a plasma on it!
