I have all the Terminal ends to finish Harness. I plan to hear this engine this weekend.
If it will just speak to me, I will be happy.
The rest is cake

Well
All wiring done, rigged up a make shift fuel system. bumped it over. spit, sputter, bang, pop, etc.... one bank not firing. :bang: Hitting on 4 cylinders. checked some connections, corrected a few things. and...... poof. it lives. :D Damn ECM Vats only lets it run for about 20 seconds. Gotta take ecm over to a buddy and get that fixed so i can run it. short bursts sounds ok at this point. Basically looks like i got everything right at least.

Sounds like you are really moving along, Interesting information regarding the pulleys. I am seeing how tight everything is now. Looks like you will be riding this spring.

Thanks guys, yea. at this point just hearing some noise, and seeing some oil pressure was a hoot. Great motivator.
sad..... Nice legs used to motivate me. :D
Anyway, have a little more to share.
Fabbed radiator fan shroud and brackets.
finished the front inner wheel well panels. I think these will save my paint for sure. I find it odd that there was none factory. 1 good rock could ding the inside of the fender and screw up paint real fast.

The inner fenders were added on the -74 vegas, and they fit the earlier models. (I bougt a pair for my -71). I read somewhere that they were supposed to be there but they were canceled to reduce production cost. After a few years of replacing rusted front fenders on warranty they finally added them.

Well
guess i spent time making the inner wheel wells when i could bought some. I never knew they had em. prob hard to find nice ones anyway. i'm sure they are plastic.

I came up with a neat fix for my T-stat housing re -indexing delema. I did some searching and all i could find was pricey billet stuff that swiveled. I made mine in about an hour out 1/4" alum. With my hillbilly CNC equipment. (jigsaw, grinder, drill, file). this idea could be used to index it just about anywhere.

Also started on Air intake tube. Made plug from 2" foam. will wrap in fiberglass mat, After it kicks, pour thinner in and melt the foam out. Finish sand the outside and paint.

Had some sunny waether saturday, Rolled car out to get a better look at it. Give her a breath of fresh air, so to speak.
I know it aint much, but this is as close to a car it has looked in 2yrs.

Darrell, lookin RRREEEEAAAALLLLL good. Good job outta you, man.

Ummm...not tryin to be a know-it-all here, but one just can't wrap 'glass and resin around that type of mold/buck. Maybe you know that already....like I said not tryin to be a know-it-all. Between the heat of the resin & 'glass curing and the solvent in the resin, it will literally melt the Styrofoam buck, thereby changing, possibly collapsing, the mold. (I only speak from experience). You need to cover it with something like body filler or, when I made my hood scoop I used, aluminum foil. The foil will come right off, for the most part. Being you are making a "tubular" item, some of the foil may remain inside and can be a real drag to try and remove. I suppose you don't want any of the foil to come loose and getting into the intake....that could be bad. Anyway, the foam is easy to mold (a person can make some pretty cool shapes with that stuff), but it has to be covered or you may waste it and be pissed.

I am probably not tellin you anything you don't know, I am just tryin to help. Certainly looks like ya know what you are doin.

Keep up the great work!

Quote taken from the Schwartz Vega project.
"We took a block of styrofoam, and sanded it to the shape we wanted. Next we're gonna wrap it with tape. coat the tape with car wax. Lay a coat of epoxy resin and fiberglass matte, then after that dries a couple more layers. Let it cure a day or 2, then pour gas in the styrofoam which will melt it, the pull out the tape. Wash with soap and water, then sand outside to look nice and paint it. Done"

What kind of tape, I don't know.
I am going to steal your idea for the thermostat housing. :th:

Thanks again for the ata boys and thoughts.

I did know i have to cover it with something 1st. But good to point out for everyone to see. honstly i'm not sure what i'm going to do thou. I was thinking tape at first, maybe electrical tape?, then i was thinking maybe paint it with latex paint. Maybe saran wrapped real tite. I was planning one real thin layer of matt first, hoping not to build too much heat. Then after it kicks add more as ness. I'm going to experiment a little before i risk my plug . I want the inside to be pretty slick too. So it flows smoothly. ( after all, thats one reason these intakes came about). The way i look at it. Cant come out worse than some of the stock ones wrapped up under the hoods of cars.
No matter what i do i will wax it up good with mold release and hope for the best. 3 1/2" dia. and shape will make it hard to clean out if it sticks.
Glad i have some ideas worth steeling.
please do. If we get a pattent, just remember me. :D
