Just thought I would post a couple pics of my project. Since I am picking experienced minds on it. Maybe you like to see where the input will go. This is a nice site and thanks in advance for all the sharing. I hope to have tips and tricks to add as well. I'm a long time car guy. Mostly Muscle Cars. 68 69 Skylarks my passion. This is my first Vega, gotta small learning curve to overcome.
This Car will have an LS 5spd. or nothing. this will be my first experience with Gen III too.
This Vega used to belong to Yenkoboy, from this site. It WILL see the road in my hands. I am lucky to have landed this super solid little ride. Matter of factly, I sold one of my Skylarks to aquire this.

He is done with H bodies I think. selling everything on That auction site. He told me he just couldnt make up his mind what to do with this car, so he never really started. I'm glad I got it Virgin. hate to undo stuff.
My prob is I know what I want to do. Just cant afford to. lol.

Just thought i would add some small updates.
Completed the S 10 5 lug conversion. I got no wheels cause I sold the cool 4 lug slots. I plan on some simple bigs and littles rallys.
I have stayed true to the LS theme. Just picked up a nice deal on complete 5.3 from 02 Chev Pick up. Good starting point, decent miles on a turn key motor. I plan to get all the R & D and fab work done. MAybe freshion it up later. I already picked up an F body intake, need to find a Pan, and Trail blazer exhaust manifolds.

I have pulled the front sheetmetal just to get a start on bodywork and prep, since thats cheap ( for me, since i am a body man) and needs to be done sometime. I can get something done while i save for more parts. I'm Very happy with how solid this little car is. Bottoms of fenders and cowl. WOW. clean.

Hey all.
Just another small update. Finished all bodywork on front fenders, header panel and valance. No rust at all, just a bunch of elbow dents, garage dings and a bad spot at the bottom of left fender where it slipped on a lift or something. Pushed up the dog leg a little. DP 90 epoxy all peices, inside and out. K 38 on the outsides. Ready for final block and paint. Notice shaved marker lites, and emblems.
I just hung them back on to keep them safe, need to come off again to clean and paint uni body stuff and i will jam everything before final assembly.
Oh yea. The hood is finished too, did it a while back. so, the whole dog house is ready for paint
Baby steps. but still plugging at it. hoping to inspire others too.
Thanks again for this forum. I really enjoy this group. good people here!

Just a small update. Not getting very far on acual car, but have ran across a couple deals. Picked up my 2nd LS engine this weekend. Was looking for Trailblazer exhaust manifolds and found them attached to an All aluminum 5.3 with only 19k miles on it. So I took whole thing. The Cast truck motor that was suposed to go in as a budget build is for sale now.
Got the 5.3 on stand waiting. Dropped a bare block and heads down in to test fit and r&d a little.
Also got Flywheel. I think I have just about everything now to actually start fabing mounts and getting serious.
heres a couple pics.

What kinda money does it take to buy an aluminum LS ? I see a lot of guys going with them , I know nothing about them but I may have to find one and learn , I know I'll get my car done sooner if I go with my 400 . I was looking for a nice Hatch like you got but couldn't find one someone hadn't already butchered so I settled for the Notch I'm biulding now . I'll keep track of your build .

well, like i said. I got really good deal. Gave $1000 for the low mile LS I just got. Its taking me while to get anywhere too. Money tite, wife not working. Luckily my job good. I have done sbc and bbc to death. I am determined to get this LS car done. I dont just want to drive it. I want to really enjoy it. I dont know how you can get easy 300hp, and 335ft lbs tourq, 25mpg out of an old small blk. And drive it every day. Once its done, i dont touch it for 50k miles. No adjusting carb, fouling plugs, dist caps and wires. All that bull crap gone. I hope you guys dont get discouraged and give up. I really think gen3 v8 is the way to go.

It looks like the engine sits low enough to fit the Vortec Truck intake in... What do you think?
