IMSA Vega

Postby bbcowboy » Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:15 am

Well, I guess it is time for me to get my toes wet, and showing my project. I have been enjoying reading about the project cars. I have shown pictures of my car in other threads. Now that I have the car home, I can start tearing into the suspension and finish the body work. Parts have been coming in little by little, wheels & tires, front suspension, brakes.

I like this. Where did you get the IMSA kit?

I got it from Chris Wheaton. I had another vega from him which the body kit on it. The vega was in poor shape so I cut the panels and put the kit on another car.

I need to add that the kit was a Hooker Header body kit for 1971-1973 Vega. I had to redesign and create a new air dam for the the car.

Thank you, still a lot of work to be done. This weekend I hope to get the front end off and start putting the front suspension together along with the brakes.

The control arms are from Overkill, the front brakes are Wilwood 11" and the wheels are 11" by 17" in the rear and 9.5" x 17" in the front.

I'm pretty jealous for those overkill parts. That dude really has a great product. I was thinking about doing the same thing with wheel tire combos. Just to take a stab, are you going with 275/40 front and 295/35 rear? Are those wheels from that guy in California? What is it... Team iii lites or LT or something.

Bitchin'. I think we're on the same track. I like the mock up. Is that aluminum?

the air duct is aluminum, NASCAR equipment. there is a 3 Inch tube that will connect to the front air damn. I had to use duct tape to hold in place until I get some clamps.

Well, I guess I have a small problem, and solution is back to the body shop and widen the front fenders.
