9sec,

Were you in Michigan when you started this project? If so, I bought the Cosworth wheels and tires from you. Project really coming along, great job.

Yes Dick,
Moved to Saint Clair Shores in 07,

like all projects, they're never finished.

Just been plugging away, as of last week I added up all time spent working on the car to get it to where it is now, I have 570 hours split between Nov 2005 and May 2012.

I didn't know if you were still here or in Texas after seeing the plate.

You can remove a good amount of weight off it for pretty much free if you get to looking around. The crash bars in the doors are fairly thick too. lots of easy almost free weight reducers on these cars. Weight reduction is like free hp added to the car pretty much, better power to weight ratio.

Like you said the wheels are a big one also but theres other things that can be done for weight reduction super shoe string cheap.

I figured I'd like to know what the total weight was with a full tank, I'll keep three gallons in to see what that does. I'll definitely hollow out that front bumper and scrape off that undercoating...100 lbs. = 1/10 of a second, I should also drop a few pounds as well

Well guys, I know first hand...the front bumper on my 1976 Cosworth weighs sixty pounds exact, that's bumper, rubber strip, bumperettes, bumper bolts, two rubber blocks behind bumper, center energy absorbing spring mount, center energy absorbing spring, and the two end mounts...removing the center mount and center spring was a 16# weight reduction. I'm probably going to take a saw-zall to the bumper and trim it up a little, might get lucky and save a whopping 20# total.

20lb reduction off the front is quite a bit. Take a hole saw to the mounts and swiss cheese them, you can do the same to the bumper on the bottom. I bet you can take off another 10lbs of that thick steel. They built all that stuff up there to hit a truck at 40mph and only scratch it.....lol

If you can muster up a few bucks, a fiberglass bumper would be the ticket on the front.

heres a pic of what i would do to the mounts and front steel band. swiss cheese it with a hole saw and then cut out the centers with a plasma cutter or cut off wheel, then hole saw in between the ovals.
