This is only the 2nd orange CW I've ever seen. The other one was around 2006 in Rome, GA and had tan interior. It was in mint unmolested condition.

I bought this car from a guy in Houston Texas in 2005, the fellas name is Tim Morgan, he said he was the president of the CVOA at one time...she only has 82k, the interior was spotless and the body looks like it's a few years old. I purchased off e-bay for $1275.00, sold off everything I wasn't going to use and was up $3200. I only bought it because it was orange, at the time I never knew what a rare piece I had, I felt sick when I made the first cut into the steel, but it quickly passed when I knew how much excitement it would bring being a drag car. The build number is #3079, here in Michigan I've seen only three or four Cosworth's in the last 4-5 years, met a few people with Vega's and a bunch who laugh at them, they are a cool little car...mine will be hitting the strip in a few weeks, just in time for the snow.

I was able to drop in a mock up engine/trans combo yesterday, I used some side motor mounts to set the initial height and location. Now I'll fab a front motor plate, hopefully tonight some time...pretty excited the oil pan cleared, better for the price I paid.

Thanks for looking.

Well friends, I made my dead line to "race" the car on the 23rd of October 2011
although not completed (are they ever?) I had some fun with her at the Halloween Classic in Norwalk Ohio for our annual end of the year dragracing event.
I had all the settings on the conservative side, 30 degrees total timing, un-jetted and un-tuned carb, .025 valve lash, the rear shocks were in the "middle" setting, I tried launching at 4800rpm on the two-step off the trans brake...
6.49 @ 118 in the eigth mile, FIRST TIME OUT !!!! I was very pleased she went straight as an arrow.

After playing with timing rear shock/spring settings, tire pressure, I got her down to 6.29 @121 with a 1.44 60' times.

Boy did I have fun !!!!!!!!!

Over the winter the engine will come out so I can finish the engine compartment the way she deserves to be done.

Man this thing seems to run very fast, do you have some spec's about the engine and drivetrain.
What does that thing weight ?

Best regards from Iceland.

Hello,

First off, she's a little heavier that I thought she'd be...a full 12 gallons of fuel with out me in...2,901 pounds. I can probably shave off 80 to 100# by switching to aluminum wheels, and I will as soon as the Brinks truck rolls over in front of the house.

The engine is a 1973 Chevy 400, bored .040 over, SRP Domed Forged pistons, 6" Eagle "H" beam rods, Steel Crank with 3.75 stroke, Chet Herbert .630 Solid Roller cam, Dart Pro1 230 heads, Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake, 850cfm Holly. I run a Two-Speed PowerGlide with a Coan 5000 stall and trans brake, out back is a 9" Ford with a spool & 4.30:1 gears.

This is all old school, raw HP, a simple recipe to make for some fun.

I'll post some time slips soon..............

Thanks for looking.

run only 5 gals of gas(43lbs lighter), look at the front bumper inner support, theres steel leaf spring material in there. You can remove a good amount of weight off it for pretty much free if you get to looking around. The crash bars in the doors are fairly thick too. lots of easy almost free weight reducers on these cars. Weight reduction is like free hp added to the car pretty much, better power to weight ratio.

Like you said the wheels are a big one also but theres other things that can be done for weight reduction super shoe string cheap.
