Nice paint!
Keeping the Cosworth theme with a modern upgrade of the original DOHC EFI I-4 engine - Cool.

I got a few things done today. All fuel line plumbing from the tank to the fuel rail is now done. I wish you could buy AN fittings in a natural aluminum as the colors don't look right on the car. That goes for the fuel pressure regulator also Oh well. I also got the drive-by-wire gas pedal from a Malibu installed. Looks nearly stock if you don't know what your looking at.

Working on wiring now. Also got my header back from Jet-Hot. I think it kinda looks like the Cosworth piece, just on the wrong side.

Todd,

Richard is very pleased that he was able to find a buyer for his restored Cosworth-Vega that would appreciate it, take care of it and do something with it. You are and have done a great job of living up to Richard's expectations! We look forward to seeing the end results.

Questions: Why did you not use the turbo charged version of the EcoTech engine since it has more hp?

We look forward to seeing the finished project.

This is such a cool project. I love the fact that it is a modern Cosworth(like) project. It'll scoot pretty well with the non-TC but you gotta wonder how it would go with a TC or a SC on it?

Finally got a chance to work on the car again. Here is a photo of the old Cosworth Bendix computer next to the new Delphi MEFI5 computer. Quite a size difference!

One of the coolant exits is on the back of the Ecotec block. You can see in the first photo the two radiator hoses and the large gap in between. I made a PCV pattern to take to an exhaust shop to get a piece of steel tubing bent to match.

For those of you who do not know or do not recall, this Cosworth-Vega was a ground-up restoration before Richard sold it.
EVERYTHING has been made NEW.
This is a NEW car!
With the addition of this drivetrain, it is going to be an amazingly nice drive!

Todd,
Your Cosworth is SWEET! :th:
The build looks very well thought out, & I like the fresh ideas in the engine / transmission swap.
It might be what GM would do if they were going to build a 2012 version of the Cosworth Vega.
The fact that it's not a bellybutton Small Block Chevy makes it very interesting to me.

Just keep in mind the fuel pressure regulator will need to be moved to the fender if you plan to make a pass down the quarter mile. Firewall mount may draw a red flag. I love the clean install. Cant wait to see how it MPG's.

A quick update...I am pretty close to test firing the engine for the first time. Waiting on one last machined part to fire it up. The engine bay is buttoned-up now for the most part and the Ecotec wiring has been married to the Cosworth wiring. I also have the gauges wrapped-up. I could not use the Vega speedo easily (no mechanical speedo drive on the trans) so I went with these VDO gauges. I think they look nearly stock. Also, see that the high beam and turn indicators are now in the gauges. The gauges also have a digital odometer and volt meter which will be helpful. Check the photos.

Got the interior practically done this week. Need a piece of carpet to cover the shifter hole in the floor, but otherwise ready to go. Also, did some test firing of the engine. Had only 3 cylinders at first. Clogged fuel injector on #4 was the culprit. Running smooth now. Temporary exhaust in place until I get it roadworthy and to the exhaust shop. Short video here:

More to come...
