Well i got to dig around in the vega today and i have to say fire is a funny thing, under a pile of burnt wood in the vega i found 2 sets of TRW upper control arm bushings, the box's were only slightly burnt and the bushings look like new, but yet the fire was hot enough to warp every panel, melt every window, and take out any body filler, and all the under coating that was inside and under the car.
I hopeing to save the frame rails i put in, the spindles and the upper and lower control arms, and the monza motor mountsand brackets as i had cut the mounts to use the 70 chevy pickup mounts.

and Art thanks for the info i'm no push over when it comes to insurance companies, i never accepted no from them and i certainly won't this time.

dave. just a thought. you have your project journals as proof of the work done. your car is no different from ,say a restored mercedes or any other fancy car. it was a valuable asset to you with alot of work into it.keep us posted as to your progress. good luck. art

I recently purchased a 72 gt for $300.00 the front end is rough but the floors are real nice, the spare wheel well is rotted away, but i'm pretty sure i can salvage alot of what i need from my 76 (i hope), i am in need of a complete 72 front end, both fenders, header panel, and bumper, i have a l88 hood and 2 grills. I paid a extra $500 for all the parts this fella had and lets say it filled the car up and his pickup, so once i go through it all i will be selling off what i don't need to fund the build of this car, Pictures coming soon.

nice, now you can just swap over all your stuff into the 72 from the 76. When you get to it, i will buy a door striker pin off the 76 if you wanna sell it, maybe the pass. side will be in good shape? Glad you got another vega.

I might have a extra front bumper, will have to look.

I was a die hard H-body guy in my younger days, and apparently i got bit by the h-body bug again. It's like starting over with the condition of this car but i got nothing else to do, and not alot of money either but in time it will be a sweet looking/running ride.(just got to keep it away from flames) :D

Mega once i get the 76 home i will be tearing it down and you can have the door striker for the cost of shipping only, both were in good shape before the fire (as the doors weren't sagging on it to wear them out).
