I have the engine nearly centered with out the steering box so the alt will fit on either side try it I guess.
The electric fan wire with fusible link
enclosed in conduit cause it's hooked directly to battery
ordered the factory plug and grommet from here
https://www.ecstuning.com/ES424449/plug needs connectors but these common female blades fit. This thermal switch and connector is a ground trigger
grommet on first then conn.
Nice plug really.Right is ground, center is #1 low fan left is #2 high speed and thermal switch is also marked accordingly
back ground can see the off switch and the Volvo fan relay
I decided to deviate from the wire diagram slightly and hooked the switch to the #1 low speed circuit because I don't think the high will be on when the car is turned off, just the low speed,so if it runs too long i can kill it with the switch. If it runs a little that will be fine like the old Dodge Omni did.
getting ground wires by the battery, crimped and soldered fan and relay grounds to hook directly to negative
Battery in,wires hooked up put a jumper wire at the thermal plug ground to #1 and the low speed fan runs.Move the wire ground to #2 and high runs, all is well. The Volvo controller and VW thermal switch automatically turns the low speed off when the high is engaged, like the Taurus fan is designed to be run.
