Shot Rod built by Craigslist

Postby kenimpzoom » Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:41 pm

Here are some pics of my 76 Monza. I got almost everything from Craigslist, Ebay, Amazon, fellow H-body.org members, or my garage.

Object: get down the 1/4 mile the cheapest way possible.

Plan for 2012: Install 283 engine I had laying around/TH350 trans and get it all running. Run it till it blows. In the meantime, rebuild SB 400 engine for next year. I am keeping the stock rearend (mini spool) till it blows.

From Craigslist: Car, trans, headers
From Ebay: Radiator
From Amazon: Minispool, lug nuts
From Hbody members: driveshaft, crossmember

Nice, I love the run till it blows method. Lets ya see just what stuff can take before it lets go. I used to have an old astro van that was my first ride. I tried everything to kill it. I ended up junking it and it still ran with 300,000. Good luck :D

It is definately a redrill. Not sure of orginal bolt pattern. These came with the car. I believe they are "Prime" brand wheels.

Getting these wheels bolted up correctly with the right lugnuts has been a major headache, but I finally got it all correct.

That will make it the only skyroof Monza running anywhere tomorrow. It sounds like it's chomping at the bit to get out and run.

Fastest run of the night...16.56 at 90 MPH. Have a terrible hesitation/bog off the line.

Not bad for 283 CID engine that had been sitting in my garage for 25 years.

Well after many hours sanding and body work, it is finally painted! Maaco did a pretty good job.

Scored Camaro seats for 30 bucks at the swap meet and they look great!

Got the 400 sbc in the Monza, and it runs great. My fastest run was a 13.83 @ 96.95 MPH. Not bad for a total investment of $4000!
