Chevrolet Vega from Iceland

Postby Kristjan » Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:41 pm

Thought it might be a good idea to post this little video of my Chevrolet Vega here in Iceland.
This video was taken when i got my new engine running for the first time, during the first start up we decided it would be a good idea to run the car with open headers only, because then it would be easier to fix some minor problems such as oil leaks, so i'm sorry for it begin so loud in this video.

The car has a 350 Chevy engine with TH350 transmission and the rear end is a Gm 12 bolt with 4.10 gears amd spool
The car has run best with another engine 11.46 @ 119 mph
I will post some better information about my Vega along with some pictures if you would like, but this little video has to do it this time.

Sorry for my english, and i hope you like this video.
Best regards from iceland.

Awesome!!!

my first Vega was a 72 GT HB orange with the white GT stripe. A 327 sbc and turbo 350 with a nova rear. Your car reminds me of that one....only better!

hey kristjan. really nice car you have there. where is your heater box. you must need heat in iceland. i notice you have the remote oil filter and you run it back by the master cylinder and down on firewall.any clearance problems. i would like to run mine the same way and route as yours instead of along the passenger side of engine block.. i have the hooker 2129 headers with 1 tube on eachside exiting through fenderwell and i dont know for sure , yet, if that would cause a problem with routing the lines the same as yours. it looks like you have the 2135 hookers(or ones like them) that have all the tubes go right down the sides of the block. anyone else have any comments or info on this post thanks art PS is there a dragstrip up there?

Waybad. I do belive this Vega was in Indiana area before it was imported to iceland. It was black with 383 and b&m mini blower when it arrived here about five years ago or so..

ChevyArt. I am really not sure what kind of headers these are. But they have there pro's and cons. As Clerance issues regarding the remote filter it's just okay. I can take some pictures of it for you so you can see this better.
As the heater goes this is only a summer toy, and with 12.5:1 compession ratio it will see limited street use.

The one and only drag strip is located in my town called Hafnarfjordur and it has been here since 1978 iirc. The track was modified heavily before last season, then we did put new asphalt for the 1/8 and did put concrete in the burnout box and through them 60 ft's. So there's some good traction up there now.

The season here in Iceland will start after 2 weeks or so. I will post some pictures of iceland drag racing and muscle car action by the time it will start.

A fun fact about H-Body here in Iceland. Is that my old Monza (1976) was the first record holder on the icelandic drag strip in 1979. It ran a 12.07 sec and was powered by 302 Chevy with Tunnel Ram. And Turbo clutch Th-400 with GM 12 bolt rear with 5.14 gears.

Best Regards.
