I wanted to post some build pics and details of a Vega built for a customer at a local speed shop. This is a really sweet car and was just finished today (just missed making the Hot Rod Power Tour this year). The car started as 44,000 original mile car. After stripping the car down it was mounted on the rotisserie and a couple of small rust areas were patched. The entire car was stripped to bare metal and the metal work began, incuding EVERY structural spot weld area was welded solid, subframe connectors welded in, and a trick tubular 3 link rear suspension system was intalled with coil over shocks. The front also received tubular a-arms and coilovers and huge swaybars. The rear end is a 9" Ford with 3.50 gears and a posi and disk brakes. The front also received upgraded disk brakes. Although I would like to have seen bigger wheels, the customer was afraid of sacrificing ride and settled on 15" torque thrusts with BFG rubber. The power train consists of a well built 383 stroker that is loaded with the best speed parts, roller cam, etc, and balanced, and topped off with Edelbrock fuel injection. The exhaust breaths through the headers into a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust that exits out the back through notches in the rear valance. It is also equipped with heavy duty alluminum radiator and air condtioning. The body is ultra straight and painted PPG basecoat black with "metallic white" stripe. The interior is all new with black leather with red piping and red bowties embroidered in the headrests. This car is a blast to drive with tons of torque, good cruising manners, and handles fantastic! Thought you all might like to check it out. You can also see it all at
