And now the fun begins

Postby NVEGAR8D » Fri Jul 27, 2012 11:27 pm

Hi all,
Well i finally started playing with my vega, now that my other priorities have been done.I have had the car since july of 09 and have been putting together all the equipment, parts and materials that i need to get going. so july 12 12, i put in my first patch in the drain plug of the passenger side footwell. I cut out a strip of the rocker panel that was previously repaired by former owner( or son(inlaw)), and cut off the lower 2 inches of the lower body material to replace pieces around the footwell. pics to follow when i can figure out how to resize them, but you can go to my garage to see them so far. thanks for looking

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the offer. i don't what i really need as yet, other than a 4 spd od shifter to replace my 3 spd. i may be looking for some rear side panels for hatch backs since the former owner had cut huge holes in them for speakers.
again thanks

Hi,
It's been a while since i started my journal and i have made progress.been working on the drivers side back wheel well area.I'll go back later and grind down the welds flat so they don't bother the sound deadening material when it's time for it.

Hi, It's been a while since i put any updates in but i've got more. I made an inner door for my shop, so i can evacuate the smoke from welding, and done more on the vega.

Hi all. got some more progress on rear wheel wells. i also got more work done in the spare area. some may think it's too much trouble with all these patches, but i'm trying to preserve a pretty rare car in these parts.

To that I say "that what we acquire too easily we value too little" besides all that, you are making some good looking patches and I may need you to make me something, (keep practicing) There are lots left out there yet and if "we" take only the prime cars where are we going to get parts? In the rust belt we live in you would probably have to travel quite some distance to find a better one! This is part of the "Making it Your Own" and lets you spread the cost out as you can and/or want to spend it $ Looking good :th: Harry

Hi all,
Progress has been slowed a little. Out of necessity i needed to fabricate a stand for my rear end. Here are a couple of pics.
