Yup our Fleet Farm Store has a marine, farm and automotive section for battery supplies. They have extra long side terminal bolts for joining 2 side terminal cables together plus a cable. Also have an array of marine dial shut off switches that go right on the post. This is what 2013 Chevy Malibu looks like these days,a fusible link box right on the battery and huge fuse/breaker box along side.Even a 300 amp fusible for the stater cable.
Image
Image
If those links blow they must not worry about exploding the battery being on top like that I guess.Wonder what material they are using must be some sort of coated steel.Good call on corrosion,I want the durability of steel, maybe I will try to tin the thing with solder
Hey lleelduo,How much is that new fusible link panel 2013 Malibu 2.5 I4?

Zinc terminals but made for a large 3 way wire so ground them flat
Imageld be able to hook up now
Image
received the auto light switch system try and figure this out now
Image
on the wire loom taking out what I don't need.some things I don't recognize been a while, may need help here.
Image
set it back in looks like the orig. fuse box feed will make it to the battery that will save some time although most will be hooked up with the new batt. terminal
Image
mounted headlight relays up front
Image
Image
Volvo fan control relay bracket was previously made for mounted
Image
Putting the relays up front and triggering them with light wire from the run or aux terminals from dash similar to the new car.got an inexspeneive 2" tach and was wondering if it would fit in the clock socket and almost does will with light sanding. Can install the dash to orig. with an added tach.

The Malibu battery terminal is a pretty cool factory item - I like it.

The new terminal you got looks much better also.

That mini tach works out nicely. :th:

I've added 13 relays so far to my Monza. :o

This is a nice relay set up that some folk search the salvage yard for.I'm doing it but with new parts except the relay harness which can not be bought any more but can be gotten here:http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?s=37420575fd8449ad53e4f3675eb39d8c&t=200028
Also got some Delco HD relays with the large power terminal that GM used for fuel pumps, blower motors, and other stuff pricey but don't have to use a lot of them.

Tracked down the Taurus fan connector plug for the fan assembly foe reference

Configuring the auto headlight system yesterday and haven't found info for installing on the classic car lighting system, only on late models that hook into the existing headlamp loom.#1 Have to use the floor mounted dimmer switch. #2 Putting up front one relay for high and one for low beam.#3 Using the existing parking and dash light system.
Image
The 545T comes boxed as Daytime Driving Light enabled so the first thing instructed is to open it and cut the red wire loop siliconed at both ends.that transfers the trigger to the photocell
Image
installed plugs on the bulbs and grounded the black wire and wired blue from one relay to both high beams and green from the other relay to both low beams with relays mounted up front as noted before. Now the relay coil trigger wires are three small red, green, blue that come from the module.Red gives power to the relay coils and bl,gr ground trigger the relays.Had a thought of tapping in to the ground triggers and controlling each H@L beam with the floor mounted dimmer.Considering voiding warranty went ahead an cut into the trigger loom and combined the green and blue wires and hooked them to input on the floor dimmer the hooked the blue to one output and green to the other separating them again leading to the relays like so:
Image
Image
works.brights
Image
dims,using floor push button
Image
added a 'Brights' indicator
Image
Image
Wired in another relay next to the module using the same power and trigger wires to light the parking and dash lights that will wire into the light switch harness
Image
This relay works on Br. and Dim.
Image
other wires are red from module to constant power, yellow switched power, black ground and wires for other things like alarms and wind shield wiper lights on mode.

mail ordered some loom holders 3/4" and 1/2" and ran some loom
Image
extended and soldered connector on the red supply wires to the fuse box
Image
made up a cross over loom to the driver headlight
Image
tied in with blu hi beam and grn low beam from relay and common grnd.
Image
at the other drivers side end the plug and added the light grn wire to go to the 'brights' indicator.
Image
Two purples are bat power to headlight hi and low relays and came with fuses in the kit so just added connector to battery and may replace fuses with cir breakers one for hi and low beams.
Image
also made a double 8 gauge alt wire and sense wire to the batt.

Doing more on the Fuel pump relay up front.Ran 10 gau power and ground wires to the tank.Ron Francis Wiring found inadequate connections when grounding the fuel pump through the frame and recommend the same gauge wire all the way up to the batt so that is what i did also.Had to use a PCV grommet to get the wire through double sheet metal at the fire wall.
Image
Ran wire from batt with fusible link and wire and ground wire to Elc. fuel pump 10 Gau. also small ground for relay
Image
Relay has 3/8 #30 and #87 blades and NAPA has those connectors.crimped and soldered once again hooked up
Image
Cased with conduit, grounds hook to neg. batt.
Image
Going to put the relay right there and will tape it up when the pos. trigger wire is hooked up.easy access good spot for it.

Playing with air cleaners and hood clearance. My neighbor borrowed me an old busted Holley 850 so mocked up some filters. The goal is to get at least a 3" filter under the hood.Cut some packing foam a diff hts.
Image
Started with an Allstar ALL25900 that's 1.5" drop base
Image
Almost shut but the hood braces were in the way.Something that most H body folks have to contend with so made some cuts on it.Have seen the hood braces cut all the way out to the edges but decided to just trace and remove for the cleaner top lid.
Image
Image
used some stiff black packing foam to fill end cavities and shaped and glued them in.Also black adhesive caulk under the loosely cut braces
Image
Image
Image
fits now that's a good thing
Image
Also picked up a GM early Corvette base to try, these are 2" drop part # http://www.classicindustries.com/produc ... 22188.html
I got a repop http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=ca ... r&_sacat=0 #W814
Image
Image
That fits with 3.75" filter ht. for a 3.5" filter.

VegaBee instead of the foam might I suggest that you form a ring of sheet metal and weld the ring in maybe with a flange that would add some strength back to your cut ribs. That would look much closer to the quality of your build, use some heat putty to protect the paint. Harry http://www.eastwood.com/coldshield-thermal-paste.html [ http://search.eastwood.com/search?w=heat+sheild+gel ] played with it in a store seems worth while, might seem expensive until you try and match that paint on the hood!

Harry I checked out my neighbors Vega wagon to see what he does for hood clearance since he had many Vegas since the early 70's,more prob than any one I know and he likes to cut the entire bracing off the whole perimeter of the hood.He says no problem with flex and opened his and gave it a twist back and forth and we did not see much flex at all.The bracing wasn't hardly attached and fell out when cut, kinda just hanging there. He also sometimes has a hole in the center of his for a mustang style hood scoop to ram some air in the carb and still the hood holds quite stiff.

Well I splurged some on the Vega and got this FItech GO EFI 30001
Image

The Allstar air filter fits but the GM Corvette drop base def not
Image
Image
need some 90 Degree fittings for fuel line hook ups
Image
but fits under hood OK

Decided not to use the Edelbrock LS Ignition with just the timing pills and got a Smart Spark LS with an over the manifold harness
Image
Really nice stuff. That's a map sensor that has to be added also
Image
Uses the same mounting pattern as MSD.Browsing through the paper work and noticed that one of the mounts taps into the intake runner,be careful of vacuum leaks on these manifolds
Image
Sealed threads and used some of the mounting stuff from the MSD
Image
Image
Been working on a PCV system For this LS6 for a while and finally finished what I think might work. There are three pipes, one on the valley cover, one on each valve cover. My thought was to draw vacuum from the valley cover through a PCV valve and use the rocker cover tubes for intake side.Ordered a handful of in line PCV valves from Rock Auto and from them going to use a V348 90 degree valve to get up and pointed toward a vacuum source. While browsing came across this #47128 HELP crankcase vent hose that might fit the large end of the PCV valve and reduce to 3/8 vent hose
Image
The parts mate together perfectly
Image
Attached one side PCV and one to valley pipe
Image
from there 3/8 hose to vacuum
Image
Image
Image
At the back of the FI unit there are two large vacuum ports, one on each bank.I don't know how sensitive this electronic unit is with a vacuum draw on one side would be so decided to draw from both with a Y connector
Image
Maybe not needed but now hooked up this way
Image
Image
For the inlet sides of the PCV system instead of having breather filters some where on the valve covers decided to tap clean air at the air filter base some how.Found these 3/8 elbows in the field sprayer products at local farm store and used them to mount hoses to the air filter
Image
Set the attaching nut as close the filter element as poss and marked it for drilling
Image
Image
Little tricky with such a deep base but mounted in just behind the filter
Image
Image
Set back on and orientated to clear the FI unit and att. hose
Image
Image
did a second one from the other rocker cover.had to come over to this side also to clear linkages
both clear inside and out
Image
glued nuts on so not to loose one of them
Image
Image
Hey there's one part that did fit on a new dip stick assem 04-07 LS6-LS2-CTS-V with 2010 Camaro manifolds installed.thought I was going to fab that but it fit right on yay

Back to the fuel lines.tight fit on a drop base necessary for Vega hood clearance
Image
Got two -6 90 degree push lock fittings
Image
FI Tech has 3 fuel inlets and 1 fuel return to place lines at diff locations, glad for that.did not have to modify the cleaner base but placed the fittings to the rear of the unit and pointed them in like this.easy to do since the LS engines don't have a distributor back there.
Image
attached Russel/Parker 350 PSI fuel line and ready for hook up.kriss cross but works
