Masked off and sprayed firewall black


Doing some color sanding.First for me
taking some orange peal out with 1500 grt.


Sanded whole car then went to 2000 grt.
Not going to take all peal out completely too chicken that I may cut through paint



When it looks pretty good with 2000 grt. will buff polish to shine.

Another weekend of sanding

Got some Meguires 3000grt. and went over the 2000grt. with that and shine is starting to come back.



If I can get it down with light grit will maybe finish with final polish

C mon get that painting done

Painting on some Al's Liner for heat & sound deadening

Similar to Lizard Skin I guess but less pricey

We had a Standard Blue years ago. Smartest damn dog I've ever known, and he had a genuine sense of humour. A real class clown.

Willow(The Pirate) is 2 and Standard Silver.Toby is a 10 yr old Toy Blue and a great dog we also have.Willow is kind of a replacement for our 15 year old female Elk hound which is a great dog for rural areas and has been wonderful with our kids growing up.Yea always entertainment with them around.

Gathered the interior plastic panels and washed them with TSP and soap and dropped them off at body shop for a coat of interior white.not to bad of shape but some are discolored and do not look good next to the white seats.There are many pcs. that will be easier to load up a gun and spray.


I knew I would be coming to this someday trying to fit the rear seat over the third link enclosure but did not know if an upholstery shop would be needed for the change or not

the lower cushion can actually be bent with a tug on with a knee and the upper I put the lil hammer to the framing little by little

Tad high in the middle but it fits saving a trip to the uphols shop.Seat also folds down with no problem but the bottom back looks a little more exposed when down maybe some carpet on it later no big deal


Got some acoustic pad down but will need to do some wiring for the fuel pump before carpet

Got interior panels back from body shop.Pricey got to stay away from body shops and Casinos.


The body shops deal with painting plastic body panels daily and trust them on that
gave the floor another layer of heat foil


With that done started speaker install

Well had this idea of using whats left of the air conditioning housing with the inlet flap to make a functional vent to seal the cabin and let air in also.Picked up a push pull cable($6.50) and trimmed and modified the housing and flap.



Made a cable holder out of 2 cabinet angle brackets drilling and tapping


Works quite well drill and bolt to housing


made a bracket to hold the cable up under dash and glued up in place


I'm really not a smoker so decided to ditch the lighter and put it there instead of under the dash.found a shock bushing washer that fits perfect

final step of twisting the cable wire around the pin.Needs to be exact length so practiced first

Got a carpet from ACC.Ordered it a foot longer up the front firewall per recommendation of fellow H-bodiers.cost a bit more and had to be produced not on the normal assem line and does cover well.

Same for the front kick panel(grills)

screwed down panel board,covered and installed panels



Got a line of Wizards cleaner and leather conditioner

Used a soft bristle tooth brush and very impressed with it
Anything up to impossible stains are cleaned up then applied conditioner


this is a common problem for Vega hatch backs; rear seat sun burn

decided on some RIT black fabric die and a stiff bristle tooth brush

two applications with the second brushing down to the carpet base

much better. see if it will last and dry properly but good for now.

ACC carpet trimmed for belt re-tractors

Hope it does with the big 3 way 6X9s being close up,I really like the way the panels look.
Used rope and soaped gasket to re-install rear windows also

I have to say Zeke nailed it there, as I should have ordered extra too I am thinking. (now that I already have it) it would suck for all this carpet I have bought to be short! I am willing to bet at lower levels your rear sound will be at least slightly muffled but if you "Crank It" the panel will not even seem like it is there, I would be way more worried about the panels rattling. Maybe put a little adhesive between the speaker and panel to lessen the chance [something strong but not permanent, sorry no great ideas outside of Silly Cone]. Keep up the good looking work your car is turning out quite nicely! Harry

speakers in the rear are mounted to the metal frame with the arm rest distance to the holes so can't put any thing there didn't think of panel vibration but the plastic seems solid.Maybe the ash tray lids will jump up and down at high vol.lol
