Phill which orange is that? It looks like the original Orange (+/-) on my monitor and it looks really good to me, I have always loved the metallics and pearls, but always on somebody else's car.

It's a Chrysler colour, called header orange or orange crush. I may or may not have copied someone else on this forum (thanks wizeguyrc). Didn't manage to get the live video feed for you, would have been pretty boring though. But here's an update.

Saturday afternoon, taking it out to my dad's place to paint

Here's Sunday, half masked getting ready for primer

All the bare spots primed, ready for base

Finally orange!

Image

Clear coat! Yay! A bit of orange peel and some bugs so wet sanding and buffing is a must. If you look close you can see the massive fly that landed on the fender.

Tonight or tomorrow I`ll get the masking off and start putting things together. Hoping to have it together for the weekend. Have a wedding Saturday and headed to the cottage Sunday, it`ll be nice to get a few miles on it this summer.

More pics to come as it goes back together.

Thanks Waybad. I'm going to wet sand and buff it out eventually, that'll get rid of the bug parts and orange peel. Next time around I need a paint booth! (I've been saying there won't be a next time for a while but Kijiji keeps giving me ideas....)

Got the masking off last night

With the hood up, should look pretty sweet once the engine bay is painted again. That's my dad in the background, patiently waiting to get his garage back.

And back on the ground. Haven't seen it out in the sun yet but should look pretty good

Heading back out there tonight, more pics to come. Should be able to drive it this weekend

Time for another update. I didn't have it on the road that weekend :( . Once I had it together I fired it up to check it over, rad cap leaked and alternator wasn't charging so the car stayed parked all weekend. Between then and now I've fixed both problems plus my starter wiring that was working its way too close to the header.

This past sunday I got the inner brackets for the front bumper all finished up and the full bumper on. Once I have the outers all finished up I'll take that bumper off and throw on the split bumper. For now it's good enough that I can make it out to a cruise night or 2.

Here's the car this past sunday

Still have a pretty long list of stuff to do but it's getting shorter. At least it's finally driveable now.

Noticed in one of the pics you have gas struts on the hood. I like that idea did you work out the geometry and shock length or borrow from another member. Cool mod might have to do it also. :th: :th: :th:

I have gone through this thread several times. Really appreciate all your postings about your project.

I did not find what throwout bearing and clutch master cylinder you used. I see the pictures of the master
cylinder but never saw where you said what it came from originally which throwout bearing you ended up using.

Thanks

Nice job, been awhile since I've looked at your project so I went back thru and forgot that you flared the rear quarters
Turned out really nice, didn't catch that in the pic after you painted the wagon...nice job.

Awesome work dude! The Vega looks great. All that rust kills me...it's just something that we have to deal with down here in Florida.

Keep the pictures coming. I'm going to start my project journal soon.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

I'll try and find out the part# for that throwout bearing. Hydraulic clutch works great, only issue is the fluid turned black. Gonna flush it out and see if it happens again...

Car is coming back out soon. By the end of the month it should have a trailer hitch and air lift springs in the rear, besides that no big plans for the immediate future. I'll get some pics up once that stuff is all done.
