Footloose Vega

Postby comet1966 » Sun Dec 30, 2012 10:24 pm

I Bought a Vega out of NJ that was a magazine car from the 80's. It is pretty much the way it was when it was built in the 80's. Still has the original Footloose Paint job which is still in fairly decent shape. The body is in great condition. I am in the process of finishing up the motor to put it back in the car.

It seems I remember having the issue of Car Craft or Hot Rod, back then, with that car in it. Don't change anything on it!
Are those the Larson valve covers?

Harry, I was wondering the same thing. Its either the same car, or a duplicate. Both have the same paint job too. What's going on guys???

Havent seen a set of Larson valve covers in a long time. I'm surprised they havent started remaking those. They'd sell good especially for center bolt heads I think. Nice car, good luck with the build.

Why does the engine pic look like a blower sitting on top of a carburated intake?

It may be that the owner in the other thread sold it to someone in NJ and now it's been sold to this new member.
Did anyone catch that C.C. called the car a 78 model in the attached story on the other thread?

the car was built in the early 80,s with the blower and fuel injection, they were having problems with the fuel injection running right,so they wanted to still keep the blower look,so they gutted the blower, made a base plate, and mounted apredator carb inside the blower case.that is the way the car has been all these years, dont want to change the way the car was built,it was a magazine and show car for most of it,s life!

I don't think anybody would give you a hard time if the blower became functional.

Cool, didn't know. Would be cool way to hide the coils on an LS motor too, valve cover inside a coil cover.
