ok so this vega was sitting out in a backyard for more then 10 years. It has 78000 miles. i bought the car not knowing anything about it at all i knew was that it was a hatch, i dont see many, and the body had potential to be restored. later on i did some research and found out that this cars had a bad rep. not caring i went on to trying to make it turn on the starter is shot. and the radiator has a small hole on the top right coner so i dont know yet if the motor is shot. The carb needs rebuilding and the motor looks ok. I Did a tune up on it changed the oil , oil filter , spark plugs into platniams, new rotor. new battery, it needs new tires but i havent got to that yet. dropped the tank and cleaned it out the gas pump was clogged and i got a new one. the front electric pump was also shot so i replaced it as well. after i took the starter off and took it to autozone they checked it and it passed. bolted it back on and it cranked a little bit and then it would just spin again with out cranking but with a lil gas to the carb it started up burned black smoke from being left off for such a long time. after a few runs it was smokeless. a good sign i guess. evently it stoped wanting to turn on so i went ahead and took apart the carb. got it rebuilt and now im waiting for the new starter to come in. see how that goes...

It's always great to get one running again! My El Camino sat for 22 years, but just a little gas down the carb, and she was running like new after a few minutes. I'm following your progress.
