So I'm new to the h body world. Just found this one cheap when looking for a rolling chassis for a 427sb I bought last year.
Originally a vega 2300 mt. It was built once or twice before.
It apparently has a 7.5 inch but I have to open it up to see what gear is in it. Update: it's a 3.42 mechanical locking diff, let's see how long that lasts
I patched some hacked metal under the hood at the motor mounts. Must have had custom mounts. Some shoddy work here and there.
Installed my engine with front mount trans dapt kit. Some minor mods needed but welding is no problem.
big rad
covered it with a custom spoiler using spare parts
5 bolt conversion
quicksilver shifter, hurst t handle, shiftkit installed (th350)
15" vette wheels
had to get a proper audio deck, not only did the oem not really work but i gotta have bluetooth audio to live
Been a while since i updated. Got the car back or of storage last month. Feels good to drive it again. Found my fuel tank is leaking. Can't find replacements so I'm sending it out to be sealed and coated.
modified some 88 sunbird seats to fit, the car had some poor fitting worn out firebird seats in it. these are way more comfortable
found a mint condition rear seat in the boneyard, made it fit (willing to sell/trade this) it appears to have been refurbished, the guy told me there were matching fronts but someone got to them first
found some more shinnanigans when i removed the fuel tank to have it repaired. pick up tube on the sending unit had been repaired with a hose and the sock filter just stuck onto the hose, but it had come off and was sitting in the bottom of the tank. explains why it would run out of gas before the needle even hit the E line. fixed it with some steel line and no need for the sock, i have an in line filter
found some images of the engine before installing it, it was built well by the guy i bought it from. 400ci small block, .060, stroker, making it a 427ci. arp bolts, eagle rods and crank, big blick lifters. don't know what cam is in it though
torquer II intake
didn't take too long to find a small oversight when this engine was built, they used the sb rocker studs. so the nuts were only on a few threads. started snapping off the tops.
if you look closely you can see how far down the locks are in the nut.
easily fixed by finding a set of big block lifter studs. 2 days before leaving for Syracuse was cutting it close though.
replaced badly worn rear control arms with a nice set of adjustable umi performance arms.
