New guy here! I'm a 56 yr young guy in OK. Been around hot rods for a long time but still have a lot to learn. Picked up a great 75 Vega hatchback this weekend. I've always wanted a V8 Vega so I'm going to give it all I got. Looking to put a 350 with a 350 auto and want to tub/narrow erase end for the pro street look. I've been going a ton of research and would appreciate any and all advice. I want to change front to 5 lug and sorta confused on best route. Any suggestions?

Nice! I saw that one on Craigslist. I'm between Tulsa and Stillwater, and I have 18 mostly late model Vegas for parts if you need anything. The best 5 lug conversion is to use S10 axles and spindles, and there are plenty of threads on the swap here. Welcome!

Hi ,
First, Welcome to the best forum going  :th: .For the five lug thing you could go s-10 axles or a shortened 12 bolt or 9inch frd. Front spindles ar usually earlier s-10 and calipers. Be prepared for a lot of welding. Keep those pics coming :th: .

Got the body in primer, changed out the rear end to a 88 S10 with 3:73 gears, put adjustable upper control arms on and so far it's coming along great. Putting 235/60/15 rear tires with 8" American Racing AR23 with 3.75 rear spacing on back. Wanted to tub the back but changed my mind and just went with a S10 rear end.

I think the 235/60/15 are going to fit fine.

Finally did the front 5 lug conversion this weekend. Used Gumm's adapters, 88 S10 splindles, rotors, calipers and master cylinder. Not too big of a job other than some of that stuff didn't want to break loose after 40 years.

So now the rear is done and the front is done. Should get the motor back from machine shop this week.

It's been awhile since I updated my project. I'm just about finished. Well, I guess I'll never really be "finished."

You did an awesome job building your Vega! Do you have a roller cam? Where did you get the beefy aluminum radiator? I'd like to buy a similar radiator for my Monza project.

It is a 20 over 350. I put the Comp Cam XE268H hydraulic cam in it. The radiator is a Griffin.
