On Good Friday I had the opportunity to run my car at the Talladega Gran Prix track. There were a group of 30 cars rented the track out. Only 6 cars were on the track at any given time.

Well run by a nice group of people. Had a great time didn't break too much. Was able to put some good wear on the tires! Car handled great. I had the transmission rebuilt a few months ago and installed a short shifter. The transmission was smooth and I only missed a few shifts. The brakes worked well but I didn't push them at all didn't want to push it that hard so I took it real easy on them. I only smelled them get hot one time. I think there's room for improvement there but they worked fine today. Lower radiator hose clamp came loose and puked out a bunch of water in the pits after one session but that was easily remedied. Threw the alternator belt one session so had to cut it short. Each session was 20 minutes long and I was able to run most of them start to finish so really got a lot of good time testing the car and its handling on a track.

Here is a video I posted on youtube of me chasing down a friend of mine in his 64 Nova.

So I pulled the motor to do some work to it and used this opportunity to redo some of the front suspension. One thing I did was to replace the center link, inner and outer tie rod ends, installed a reman power steering box for a 1978 Trans AM, and installed G body idler arm and pitman arm, to try and correct ackerman. I also installed half inch taller lower ball joints and 1 inch taller upper ball joints.

Hopefully this all works out!

what are the back sets and rim widths you using on the front and backs, are the rear tires also 245\35\18? what rubber do you find the best for handling
