I just priced out my paint the other day. Paint will be Cinnabar Red (1980 Pontiac) and is $600/sprayable gallon. The clear will be another $400/sprayable gallon. The epoxy primer and 2k primer are another $300 or so. Yippee.... :th:

Got the paint on!! Never again!!! It went so badly because of my stupidity of course...I used the wrong cleaner after primer and it clogged up my spray gun. I pig-headily tried to keep going for too long. Bought a new sprayer on Sunday and had pretty good technique by the end. This picture is from Wednesday, the panels and parts are going back on well. I've just got to figure out the shifter problem from my other post to get it going forwards!!

Rick

Thanks again for the encouragement!

Rick you have to remember that education is expensive! I think from your picture that you did indeed get it figured out. So congratulations on having the first one done! You will likely try it again, [being in the auto hobby means we are gluttons for punishment] and it will go smoother and even better. We are all waiting for more pictures! :th: Harry

Well it's been a long time coming, but I think I'm done!!! Except for painting and installing the front air dam I'm calling this drive able and done!! I realize that I've missed posting about a lot of the steps from the start until now, sorry about that, but here are the mostly finished pics! A HUGE thank-you to all who have helped along the way, I would have been a nightmare without the people on this forum. Here's to a happy summer of motoring!!!

Hey, thinking about doing a poor man's fix on my bumper. I polished up the hubcaps on my trailer using water and aluminum foil and was thinking of doing the same on the bumper, I just wanted to check that I'm not going to harm the bumpers any by trying this am I?

Hi, with the bumpers being aluminum i wouldn't recommend it . you're probably better off with a polishing compound and buffer after sanding any scratches with fine sandpapers.

Question about the wheels...being aluminum, should they be torqued to a specific tightness, or just one good grunt tight?

If you have a torque wrench I would shoot for about 80lbs. Do them all to about 40, then 60 and then 80.
