I had a fun little cruise last night You get a lot of looks and thumbs up driving this old girl some pointing and laughing  but it is so much fun. When I got home I thought I would clean the inside of the windshield cause there was some streaks and things in my vision. And that's when I realized that the bottom of the windshield has come unglued. Not from the windshield itself but from the car itself "..... I hope that it's not rusted out. I am bringing the car to a glass shop in the morning so they can pull the glass and check the window channel :? From what I can see I think it's do to improper cleaning and sanding when the car was painted and the glue had nothing to hold on to........fingers crossed that it is not all rusted out ..More on this as it unfolds

Even if it is rusted out it is still fixable.
It would be a bummer, but nothing to panic over.

Good and bad news on the window channel good is that there is no holes or anything bad is that there are no hole or anything in the BONDO"..... :censored: but it's not that bad and I will fix it properly when I strip the car down for paint.
In the meantime some good paint will help and the window will be ok for now.

Alright so the windshield is back in and the spot where the bondo was is only about 2" long on the passengers side and I would say about 1/4" wide or so. Not as bad as I thought when he told me over the phone :th:

I missed the 70's (born in 74)... but I just love every thing that was 60's and 70's cars, music and the whole vibe.

My van is a 78 chevy G10 that I bought at 16 with a loan from my mother. long story short it's been a work in progress with ups and downs ever since and has gone through some changes over the years. here is a link to more about the Chevy Van.

That takes me back; in the late 1970's I worked at a custom van shop. Memories from that part of my life are a bit "fuzzy".
The "fleet"-
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
06 Silverado 2WD ex.cab daily
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
06 GMC Canyon Shop truck
07 Colorado project( 5.3 4L60e swap)
99 Saturn SL1- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- son's project
07 Saturn Ion Redline project
and 4 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

Thanks guys the van and I have many stories....
ya I am having mixed feelings on which way to go with this project. At first I was with out a doubt thinking V8 conversion 5 lug conversion and frame connectors ext. but this old girl is pretty rust free and unmolested and the 4 banger runs relatively good at this point. I've had it to a couple small shows around town and people walk up and say gotta be a V8 and look in the engine bay and just can't believe it the original 140 in there. I know I can do some things and still be able to return it to original BUT....once I start one thing leads to another and well half way will ruin this car so i think its all or nothing hence the reason on on the fence with this one.

I did power wash all the interior panels to get most of the Glossy tan paint off of them and gave them a rattle can paint job with some flat black vinyl paint. They look pretty good but some of the panels were pretty sun dried and got chewed up from the power washer so I sanded them down. The interior looks so much better now.
Im still working the kick panel vents (what a PITA to get them out) I got some 3M strip caulk to seal them up. more to come stay tuned for more updates !!
