72 Vega GT Project Loco Moco

Postby 6D9 » Tue Dec 20, 2016 11:31 am

Finally after helping my dad with his 72 Vega GT it was time to fine one for myself! Found this lil guy on Craigslist. Car is a 72 GT Hatch 4 cyl...4 speed on the floor. Car has working A/C and Heater! Crazy is it has just over 10k original miles on it!
I picked it up and drove it 2 hrs home on the freeway. Plans for it are to drive and enjoy it as it is for awhile an down the road V8 swap it. Here is a pic.

Wow! Clean and original cars are getting harder and harder to find. I would be tempted to leave it as a survivor car. :th:

Hey 6D9,

If and when you are ready to get rid of that 4 cyl. let me know as long as it is still in good shape and running! I am looking for a good running engine to put in my Astre GT until I can find all the parts to rebuild my original engine! Seriously, I would be interested!

Bitchen!
I'd leave it the way it is and let my wife drive it to car shows to park next to me in the EVL VEGA.

Can't wait to watch the progress. Considering the quality of your Dad's Vega I'm sure this will be top notch as well.

Thanks bud! My wife hates it but oh well haha. My plan is to enjoy it as a 4cly 4 speed for awhile. My budget will be small and plans are for cheap fun hotrod/grudge car. I have a pretty nice 406 on the engine stand that needs to be checked out but will make it into the Vega. Going to try and do all low buck stuff..Craiglist/trades etc.

What A find. Cool little car. I would Gen III LS it. dont disturb the exterior. Nice little survivor sleeper. Have fun. You already paid for the clean body. You will be suprised
at how far ahead you already are.
