Hey Chris, I noticed in the background of one of your motor pic's you have painted the exhaust manifold. What did you paint it with? Just curious on how well it holds up, I was planning on leaving mine natural colored as I find most paints don't hold up more than a few months. Let me know how well it lasts, I'm not doing my motor till later this spring.

Ceramic header paint from Carquest, pricey.

EDIT: Burnt right off

Have you used it before? Does it hold up well?

Good luck with the spray paint and please let us know how it holds up. I was going to go that route until I called around to some shops that do ceramic coating. The shop I used in Orlando told me that most of the headers and manifolds that he ceramic coats have been previously spray painted with "high" temp paints that failed. I saw some swatches of colors on his counter and asked about the colors, where he told me that he no longer does colored ceramic coating because of poor results. So, I went with the (dull)silver ceramic coating for 120.00 for the pair of stock V6 4.3 exhaust manifolds. Just my 2 c worth on the spray bomb stuff.....Peace

If the paint burns off the manifold, I'm out 15 bucks.

Valve train issues, comp cam has a smaller base circle. Need longer push rods. Interesting that the iron duke has non adjustable rockers. The rocker nut is non locking and gets bottomed out on the stud then torqued to 20 foot pounds. Adjustment is performed with shims and custom length push rods. I'm going to convert it to locknuts. With the longer push rods that I need anyways, I should be able to set lifter preload with the rocker.

Continuing on with assembly while waiting for custom length push rods.

Looking really nice Chris. Did you buy all new bolts or clean up and paint the original bolts? Looks nice either way.

Thanks eh, I spent hours buffing, blasting, priming and painting all the hardware and parts. The paint was some chrome in a can I had around.
