Haven't watched all your video yet, looks like you spent a lot of time on it though. The Chevy Vega first year model was 1971, introduced in the U.S on September 10, 1970.

When I was double checking my notes and discovered the error, it was too late to reshoot that bit. So, I tried to bandaid it in post production. If you look closely, I tried to acknowledge this by putting a "1971" in text over my mouth when I say 1972 in the video. Thanks for pointing that out though. I appreciate people who know keeping me honest. Also, thanks for watching the video. If you wouldn't mind, if you see anything incorrect in future videos don't hesitate to let me know here or in the comments section of the video. Also, if you feel moved to do so and haven't already, please hit the subscribe button.

Thank you

On another note, can I get a link to your car thread Hammerdown7. I try to look at the rides of whoever comments so I can put faces to names. However, you have 3600+ posts across 243 pages that cover 13 years and three posts in you are giving very specific and detailed help. It seems easier to just ask.

I'm glad to help if I can but I don't have a thread just on my car. I have added some pictures and thoughts of some specific items to answer questions when I could but never put a journal together.

My biggest problem on a Journal is that I took very few pictures when I converted the '77 Vega to a Cosworth Clone, it's been done for almost 12 years.

I appreciate you chiming in and I am sure I will have about a million questions to ask you. . . eventually. For now I'm trying to glean as much information as is already on the site. It seems the site was moved at some point and between that and photobucket doing what it did, a lot of value was lost. Either way, there is still a bunch of information on this website to be learned about these great little cars.

I posted this question at the link below originally but I want to add it to the build thread un case someone is reading this:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46484

Has anyone ever installed a monte Carlo bar or strut bar in their Vega or Vega variant?

There is a thread here labelled "engine compartment bracing" which basically lays out the idea of building up faux shock towers on top of the existing upper control arm mounts for the purpose of attaching a bar from one side of the car to the other. The idea is it provides a brace to keep the weight from a v8, coupled with spirited driving, from forcing the lower control arms further apart and ruining the alignment. This is commonly used on mustangs and tons of imports to stiffen the body.

To deal with the scourge of front frame rail twist after installing a V8:

I was thinking of robbing the idea and using both a "Monte Carlo bar" and a "Strut bar" mounted as explained above to stiffen my chassis. I just want to see if anyone has done it before.

This time on @Burnoutsandrotorblades, the Vega loses the leaky quadrapuke carb for some performance upgrades and some nuts end up somewhere they shouldn't be. Check it out!!

Good job...
Holley is by far the way to go.

Trivia time, what was the first production Chevy car and motor to come with a Holley?

Like I said in the video, I'm pretty comfortable with Holleys. If you look around my YouTube channel, you'll see I have done some rebuild and modification videos.

As for your history question:

I found a couple references that date the Holley back to 1965 on a couple Chevrolet engines. However, There is an obscure reference on a PA history website citing Holley producte being sold to Chevrolet shortly after 1917. Did I get close? Either way, thanks for the impromptu research project.

"In 1965, the new list number 3310 (a model 4150 carb), made its smash debut on the 375-horsepower 396ci engine that came in the 1965 Z-16 Chevelle. It only lasted for one year as an OE production carburetor, but it had been such a huge success as a performance carburetor that Holley released it as an aftermarket carburetor in 1966, available to the masses."

https://www.rodauthority.com/tech-stori ... ilestones/

"The Holley 4150 series carburetors first appeared on Chevrolets with the 1965 327 and 1966 427 Corvette engines."

https://www.hemmings.com/blog/article/h ... tor-quest/

"In 1917, the Holley Brothers Company sold Ford its prosperous car-carburetor business and reformed around the tractor division. Soon they were selling their products to International Harvester and Chevrolet under the name of the Holley Carburetor Company."

Ding,Ding,Ding...

Correct, one year only the infamous double pumper also Came on the 396 closed chamber 425 horsepower 1965 Corvette which was my high school car.

1917, wow... a person wiser than me said nothing on a car today save the computer has already been invented and used in one manner or another. Everything else are mere updates. :th:

I finally got around to redoing all the hokey wiring in the car. Also, I updated the guages in the instrument cluster. I answer 74_Vega_GT's question about the oil pressure lines referenced below. Check out the Video!!

74_Vega_GT wrote:Interesting video. You say, its a 4 speed? Which 4-speed is in it..just curious. Sorry I can't help on imbedding a video. Also, you mentioned in the video that you are not a fan of the plastic oil pressure line to the gauge. What would you use preferably, and where would you run the oil line? Thanks

Has anyone ever installed a monte Carlo bar or strut bar in their Vega or Vega variant?

PM me your email and I'll send you a picture of a pretty trick Monte Bar on a Vega with a Rotary engine.

Resizing an image here is a pain.
